UFC 88 took place last night and even tho it didnt feature any Title fights, it was well worth the money.
The Main Event alone featured one of the most shocking knockouts in the history of the UFC. Rashaad Evans dominated Lidell with his speed and game plan and knocked him out in the second. I thought Lidell was going to walk out of here with the win, because as good as Sugar is, I didnt think he would have the power to KO Lidell or the chin to take Lidell 'shots. I was wrong. I guess we are going to see Rashaad vs Forrest now and thats going to be interesting. As far as Lidell goes, maybe its time to retire. He is not getting any younger and that Title shot he was chasing, he is not going to get it anytime soon. This fight made me realize about another fight out there, Couture vs Lesnar. Couture is 46 yrs old I believe and I hate doubting Couture, but can he beat someone 60 lbs bigger and on his physical prime at 46? The same thing happened with Lidell and Wanderley. I know Wanderley is only 32, but he's a really old 32 year old fighter, whose prime is 5 years behind him.
Another fight I really enjoyed was Franklin vs Hamill. This fight went down exactly the way I predicted. Hamill decided to stand with Franklin and he got completely DOMINATED. Like I said on the other thread, Franklin is a step ahead of Hamill. The truth is, if it wasn't for Anderson Silva, Franklin would have been a legend today. The most dominating Middleweight fighter ever. People really underestimate how good Rich really is cause of those losses to Silva. Actually what that fight proves, is how good Anderson Silva really is, that he could dominated so easily a guy like Franklin.
Also in this card, Dan Henderson beat Palhares. This fight was really a technical fight. Palhares tried to take it to the floor every chance he could, but Henderson sprawled very well. Palhares is WORLD CLASS on the ground and even Henderson, who is a world class wrestler, wanted none of Palhares. Both fighters looked good here, with Henderson proving to everyone, why at one point he was considered the best fighter in the world.
