Rampage Jackson detained for mental health evaluation

IRVINE, Calif. -- Former mixed martial arts light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been hospitalized for a mental health evaluation.
Irvine police went to Jackson's home Wednesday after his friends told authorities they were "concerned about his behavior and some remarks he was making," Lt. Rick Handfield said Thursday.
"Officers spoke to him to evaluate whether he was a danger to himself or others," Handfield said. "He was detained and was taken to an area hospital for mental evaluation."
Handfield declined to elaborate, citing privacy restrictions.
Jackson was arrested Tuesday in Costa Mesa after a 3-mile chase that began as the result of two freeway collisions and another crash when he allegedly ran red lights in his 2008 Ford F250 pickup, police said.
During the chase, police said, Jackson drove over the raised median of the roadway, drove onto a sidewalk, causing pedestrians to flee, and a tire on his truck disintegrated before he taken into custody without incident.
Jackson was booked for investigation of felony evading, reckless driving and hit and run, and released on $25,000 bail.
After the arrest, police said they learned that Jackson may have been involved in two collisions on the freeway, which did not involve injuries.
Jackson lost his Ultimate Fighting Championship title July 5 in Las Vegas to Forrest Griffin in an unanimous decision.
UFC spokeswoman Jennifer Wenk in Las Vegas declined comment on the 30-year-old fighter's recent troubles.

Family members have said that he had a breakdown since losing the fight and hasn't slept in five days. Even the one interview of Rampage during that time he admited to being depressed and "fat" (O.O?), hopefully hes okay.

Get beat and go on a "rampage".
He probably won't be with the UFC much longer...

Dana White has already issued statments that he knows whats going on with rampage and plans to back him up 100% through everything.
>.> so yeah, he'll be back.
So they got mad a JT for kicking out a window and Rampage has 4 felony counts against him and doesn't get punished at all?
Dana was concerned about how JT would represent the UFC....what about what Rampage did? Committing 3 felony hit and runs and felony evading?
You are probably right. Dana will take him back but he will look like a hypocrite in the process.

JT isn't one of, if not the most popular face in the UFC though, and we don't know if 'Page is mentally ill or sick at this point or not either. Even if Rampage is just sleep deprived and depressed, we all know how Dana works here.

Yeah, like a hypocrite.
He should hold one of the most popular UFC fighters to a higher standard than a rookie.
It just goes to show it doesn't matter what you do, as long as you can make Dana some money he will back you.

"Oh yeah, it's a big double standard. I'm sure if I was the ex-middleweight champion, I could get away with stuff. I'm sure if I would have done (what Jackson did), I'd be banned."
