Anderson "The Spider" Silva

Anderson "The Spider" Silva (born April 14, 1975), is a Brazilian Muay Thai champion, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and mixed martial artist. Since October 14, 2006 he has been the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC middleweight champion. He has also competed in PRIDE Fighting Championships, Cage Rage, Shooto, and Rumble on the Rock. He holds notable wins over Rich Franklin (twice), Jorge Rivera, Hayato Sakurai, Nathan Marquardt, Carlos Newton, Chris Leben, Travis Lutter, Jeremy Horn and Dan Henderson.

Urijah Faber

After attaining the Gladiator Challenge belt in June 2004, Faber continued to defeat competition and won the King of the Cage World title in November that year. Faber suffered his first defeat in a hard-fought battle in September 2005 against UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin, but bounced back to win six-consecutive bouts and a third world championship belt from the World Extreme Cagefighting organization in March 2006. He trained his striking with world champion Dave Marinoble, and furthered his Brazilian jiu-jitsu training with teammate and mentor, BJJ world champion Cassio Werneck.
Faber defended his WEC Featherweight title against jiu jitsu black belt Jeff Curran in the main event on December 12th 2007, WEC 31: Faber vs. Curran with Faber winning by Guillotine choke submission late in the second round.
After the bout, Faber announced that he would likely be facing Jens Pulver next, who gained a submission victory earlier in the night in only thirty-five seconds. Faber vs. Pulver has been officially announced for WEC 34 on June 1st, 2008 as the main event for the WEC Featherweight Championship.

Takanori Gomi

Takanori Gomi "The Fireball Kid", is a Japanese mixed martial artist. He currently competes for World Victory Road and still holds the lightweight title from defunct promotion PRIDE Fighting Championship. As well, he was the Shooto welterweight champion (154lbs) and two-time All Japan Combat Wrestling champion. Characterized by his ambidexterity in striking, Gomi is considered by many to be one of the best MMA lightweights in the world,[citation needed] with notable wins over Hayato Sakurai, Jens Pulver, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Luiz Azeredo, Mitsuhiro Ishida, and Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett and most recently Duane Ludwig.

B.J. Penn

Jay Dee "B.J." Penn (born December 13, 1978 in Kailua, Hawaii) is an American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, currently the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion. He holds notable wins over Matt Hughes, Takanori Gomi, Jens Pulver, Caol Uno, Duane Ludwig, Matt Serra, Rodrigo Gracie, Din Thomas, Renzo Gracie and Joe Stevenson. He is the first American-born winner of the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Mundial) in the black belt category (2000). Penn is also the former UFC welterweight champion and was a coach on the The Ultimate Fighter 5 reality show. After winning the lightweight title at UFC 80, he became only the second man (with Randy Couture) to win UFC titles in two different weight classes.

Roger Huerta

Roger Huerta (born May 20, 1983 in Los Angeles, California), nicknamed "El Matador", is a Mexican American mixed martial artist. He competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Roger Huerta was originally slated to make his UFC debut against Hermes Franca at UFC 61, but was forced to withdraw from the fight as the result of an elbow injury. Since then he has won all six of his fights in the UFC, the first at UFC 63 against Jason Dent, which was declared "Fight of the Night".
Most recently Huerta defeated Clay Guida in the third round on December, 8, 2007 at The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale via a rear naked choke. This was, by far, Huerta's toughest test in the UFC; as he was virtually unable to stop Guida from taking him down at will. According to Joe Rogan, Guida's corner informed him before the beginning of the third round that he was ahead on points and only needed to win the round to secure a decision victory.
Huerta's next fight is scheduled for UFC 87 against Kenny Florian.
Huerta's only loss came as a result of a dislocated jaw early in the finals of the SuperBrawl 36 tournament against Ryan Schultz on June 18, 2004, his third match of the day.

Spider has been the most dominant I've seen a fighter in one weight class in some time, so I went with him.

Re: Wrestling Clique's Best P4P MMA Fighter Round 1

Why is Roger Huerta up there when his biggest challenge has been Clay Guida, who while exciting is not a contendor.

Where is the likes of Fedor, Big Nog, and GSP.

Very shitty list.

This is only round one

We have three more rounds to go. The winner of each round advances so this is only 5 out of 20 total fighters.

I put some names in that probably really didn't belong just to get 20 fighters all together.

I am not a huge follower of MMA fighters, but what I have seen of Silva is impressive, so I picked him. This is a good tournament Dak, hope it generates a lot of votes!!!

Gotta go with The Spider. Although my voting in this will be limited as I have no real knowledge of MMA fighters outside of the UFC.

Re: Wrestling Clique's Best P4P MMA Fighter Round 1

If this is the first round fine, I was a little worried there but I still don't think Roger Huerta should be anywhere near a p4p list.
