Yeah what a card, it looks great! One thing I don't understand though, is how Lauzon ended up higher up on the card than Nate Diaz... Diaz won their season afterall. I'm not complaining, I am a bigger Lauzon fan.
They're still trying to protect/build up Diaz since he is a TUF winner. So it's not that they view Lauzon as better than Diaz, it's just that Florian would be a horrible match-up for Diaz at this point and although Lauzon is a hell of a fighter, UFC doesn't have as much stock in him as they do with Diaz.
I'm really interested to see how Tim Boetsch does in his second UFC outing. He completely KILLED David Heath in Feb. but I don't think he's gonna be able to maul and bully Matt Hamill in the same way, especially since Hamill's stand-up seems to have improved (as evident in the Bisping fight).
I'm a little bummed that Frankie Edgar is on the undercard and I hope his fight with Maynard gets shown. Also, I think Thiago Alves could give Karo a pretty good fight.
Yeah, he is. But Guida hasn't been winning many of those fights either. He's lost 3 of his last 4, so that's pretty much why he's not on the main card.

Good points. And that "Batman" guy that Diaz is fighting is as close to being a jobber as they come in the UFC... him and that Elvis guy. Sorry, I can't be bothered enough to look up their names.
Someone at work pointed out to me that Lauzon might have also gotten the nod for the main event because he beat a big name like Jens Pulver before. Now, a Lauzon/Diaz fight would be very interesting to me.
Maynard grew on me too in his season of the TUF. But he's still a bit too much of a pure wrestler the last time I saw him fight - too one dimensional.

Yeah, Lauzon is a beast, period. He does indeed hold a KO win over Pulver and he's currently training with BJ Penn. I had Lauzon winning TUF 5 and was completely shocked with he lost to Gamburyan.
I'm honestly pulling for Florian to win this fight because I think he's the more well-rounded fighter, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lauzon gets the upset win.
As for Maynard, I think he's too much of a pure wrestler also. I haven't seen his last fight from January but I know he knocked out some guy in the fight before that in about 10 seconds, so I assume his stand-up is improving. I mainly want to see that fight to see how Frankie Edgar, a wrestler who completely HANDLED Spencer Fisher in his last fight, does against another pretty good wrestler in a fight.
Great card, I have a feeling Lauzon will pull the upset and Karo needs to keep winning if he wants a title shot. I'm particularly excited for all the LW fights, hopefully they show Edgar vs. Maynard. My predictions are in bold.

Awesome night of free fights. My predictions sucked, but I was glad that Diaz won and Karo lost. I'm really impressed with how the TUF 5 fighters are doing against legit competition.
