lets have him fight somebody that knows a lick of BJJ before we get ahead of our selfs, and Hammer I'm more then willing to give Kimbo shot knowing Bas hes getting decent training. I'm just saying because of his background and who he will be facing in the EXC (Tank? Possibly a Freak Show Tourny?) he really hanicaps himself in not being able to show if he can do much. The fact that EXC has no Light Heavyweight Divsion of worth doesn't exactly help much.
He needs to face legit fighters to prove himself as a legit MMA Fighter, he won't get that in EXC which invests all its talent in Middle Weights and lower.

Agreed it will be hard to legitmize himself there regardless.
This little tidbit of info is about Eric "Red" Schafer.

I need to stay busy doing fights and tournaments so that competing to the best of my ability comes easily.”

They've always let "under card" fighters do small shows to keep busy or get confidence back because they don't mean much in the long term. Guys like Fedor or BJ Penn are money makers for Dana, I promise you that Dana doesn't give a damn what Eric Schafer or Seth Petruzelli does in smaller shows.

Chuck Liddell wasn't an undercard fighter when he went to PRIDE.

Plus most of the smaller fighters get something like 8 grand a fight. That's not alot if you only fight 4 times a year, so if Dana would be completely exclusive on all his fighters than most of them would be in the poor house, he has to let those lower guys fight elsewhere so they can make a living.
But you'll never see GSP, BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Big Nog, or Quinton fighting elsewhere.
Edit:
Also Dak when Chuck went to pride Dana wasn't president, there contracts were different so it doesn't matter. UFC wasn't as big as it is now.

Can someone provide some proof that Dana was not President of the UFC when Chuck fought in PRIDE?
I can find nothing about it.
Thanks

Pride was supposed to be a "Cross Promotion" with a company that was bigger then the UFC on the Global market
Sambo isn't bigger then the UFC...anywhere and that doesn't change the fact that Dana will let Eric Shafer and Seth take smaller fights, yet Hes been holding Arlovski's career under for almost a year now. Thats proof enough that he won't let big names fight smaller shows.
