Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Nog's amazing because he does get into some bad positions, but he can usually always recover (unless he is fighting Fedor)

I would say GSP right now.
If BJ keeps improving his conditioning then I would put him at 2.

"I think he's been drinking too much...You just don't get any better in the ring then Cena - yeah right. Moppy was better in the ring than Cena."

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Altho I though Silva looked like crap against a dehydrated Travis Lutter, I'd have to admit that he's the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC. But if he loses to Henderson and GSP beats Serra in the rematch, I'd have to go with GSP. BJ Penn still needs 2-3 more fights in top condition before he can be considered number 1 IMO.

Rampage is another fighter who has vastly improved and with another title defense or 2 could be in the running.

Between GSP and Penn, honestly if GSP or Penn were big enough to fight Silva then they would easily win their wrestling is so good and so is both of their BJJ so they would destroy the Spider.

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

There's very little chance of GSP beating Silva, even if they were the same size. Silva's striking would overwhelm GSP. If Serra could rock GSP, what would Silva do to him?

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Not to mention Silva has great take down defense which ia almost pointless since he is good on the ground, he just never has to utilize it.

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Silva sure looked like crap against Lutter the fact both both his knees had surgery on less then 11 weeks before hand, didnt have any effect on him

I don't think you can say anyone is pound for pound the best with the obvious slighting of judges in the UFC lately (rigging ftL) but I'd say Anderson since he keeps it out of the Judges hands.

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

If GSP can take down both Hughes, and Koscheck to AMAZING wrestlers, I'm going to assume he can take down Silva.

And GSP is going to prove it was a fluke, he didn't train for the fight, he lost fair and square but I know he would have won had he tried like he did for Bj or Hughes, this time around he'll train like he normally does and kill Serra.

GSP round 2, via doctor stoppage (Serra dead)

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Don't get me wrong GSP is absolutley the shit but Silva is overwelming with his striking. The best combos by far, watch the last FRanklin again. In those combos he was hitting him in the face, body, legs at rapid fire.

And by the way he is known as a Muay Thai / BJJ fighter with deadly strikes. He knows his BJJ. His manager is talking about moving up to Light Heavy. Not sure if this will be a good move but I think he will be able to handle his own.

Re: Top in the UFC pound for pound?

Before Silva can move up he's gotta beat Hendo, Okami, Lutter (again) and Marquadt (again), then after those four fights he should move up because he would have completely dommed the middleweight division.
