“We’ll see what’s going to happen next time. We’ll see if he’s as good at fighting as he is at talking,” Rush said, growing noticeably hot under the collar. “I have respect for him, but he has said a lot of things about me. I will let my fists do the talking next time I fight him. I’ve never answered him back. Next time I fight him, he’s going to feel it.”
“He said I was giving excuses. Which is bad. I shouldn’t say those things. But I did. He said, ‘aw Frenchy, go back to your red wine and hockey game.’ I’m a Frenchy guy … okay man, we’ll see next time. I never answered back to him, but I’m going to let my fist answer back next time. He’s not my friend. I had a good relationship with him. He’s a nice guy, he was a nice guy, until he crossed the line. Perfect. It’s going to be a different story next time.”
Wow. If I were Serra I wouldn't be making someone like GSP mad. I am looking forward to them fighting again and much more so after reading this. GSP will be ready to go sounds like.

Did Serra really say those things? He seems like someone who speaks his mind, but in the 2 whole seasons of TUF, I don't remember him showing disrespect to anyone who didn't deserve disrespect. Even his speech after he beat GSP is pretty classy and humble (at least as far as I can remember). I am surprised that he would run down GSP like that without any provocation.

In an interview several days after their last fight GSP said that he didn't really train for the Serra match at all.
Supposedly Serra took offense to that and responded with this.

Thanks for clearing it up, but man, that's too bad. I hope the comments from GSP is a result of his less-than-perfect English and that this is just one bad misunderstanding. The main reason why I like these two (or any fighter for that matter) is because they don't go around talking trash for no reason. I know that controversy sells, and that the UFC media machine probably had a hand in stirring up shit, but hopefully cooler heads will prevail and these two don't go into a full mud-slinging mode.
There is a quote out there and I'm too lazy to retrieve it but Serra said "Fucking Frenchy" in regards to GSP.
Now I don't like Serra to begin with, I am a massive GSP mark and I am almost a quebecois like GSP I find that offensive and I hope GSP kicks his ass, Serra doesn't deserve to hold the belt he's not in a league with GSP, GSP made a mistake of a young guy he didn't train, had a bad entourage and paid the price for it. But now he's matured, got a new group of friends and a new manager and is set to regain what he should have never lost.

I think that is total bullshit when a fighter says he did not train. It sounds more of an excuse. He trained and got caught. That's what he should say because that is what happend. Serra's comments stemed from comments GSP made. So they are both at fault.
It should be a fun fight to see and I am looking forward to it.

I would say that GSP really didn't train that hard for Serra. He had been annialating top tier guys and Serra was really a nobody and quite an underdog.
So what GSP said was probably legit.

He obviously didn't sit at home drink wine all day and watch Hab games, he didn't train as hard as he should have, he didn't train as hard for Serra as he did for say Hughes.

Yeah that is what I meant.
I don't think GSP is the type of person that would not train at all.
He trained but not as hard as he had been.
I think he did underestimate Serra like everyone did though. I don't think anyone was betting on Serra on that one.

GSP has said, I underestimated him, he admits it, lucky for him he's a young fighter that made the mistake at a young age, now he's going to come in, kick Serra's ass because honestly all Serra has on him is BJJ and if GSP can avoid submissions by BJ penn then I'm going to assume he can withstand Serra's submissions.
