I am sure you heard Dana's comments recently after not being able to work out a deal with Fedor. He said “Fedor sucks, Fedor isn’t even a top-five heavyweight let alone (ranked) top pound-for-pound.“ and talking about a Randy Couture vs. Fedor match "I think he would have put a stone cold beating on Fedor..." He also referred to Fedor's Reprentatives as "crazy Russians".
Why do you think Dana White is making such statements?
Thoughts?

He's just trying to be a business man and protect his company. Although his statements are unethical, he thinks he is doing what is right for the UFC. When trying to sign Fedor, he referred to him as the #1 heavyweight in the world multiple times. When things turned sour and Fedor signed with M1, Dans tried to keep from losing market share by downplaying his loss.

I think Dana White is coming off a little bitter. While the UFC was still negitiating with Fedor he was calling Fedors Rep's "crazy Russians". Now everyone knows that is not going to help you in negotiations.
I think Dana has a short fuse and at times he doesn't really think about what he says before he says it and that makes him look silly at times.
Like you said tapout, while he was trying to work a deal with Fedor he was saying he was the #1 Heavyweight in the world and then when a deal could not be reached he said he wasn't even in the top 5 in the world. The fans are not going to forget what he said days earlier.

I can understand Dana's frustration. I myself am pissed that Fedor chose to work as a big fish in a small pond.
The UFC was a bit unreasonable on their negotiations though.

A bit. But so were Fedor's managers, who through what I read seemed to care a lot more about themselves and Russian MMA then Fedor.
Also I understand the need to have fighters be exclusive. But I wish Dana would have at least let Fedor fight Sambo, and they could have agreed to do like 2 PPV in Russia a year with Fedor headlining and some of the Red Devil fighters on the undercard, even if it is just Alex.

Yeah. Fedor doesn't really like the United States that much so there was all ready a tension there going into the negotiations. With a fighter like Fedor, the UFC should have given in a little bit in those negotiations. Fedor's side should have as well though.
