Heavyweight contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cheick Kongo will square off Saturday, Dec. 29 at UFC 79 in Las Vegas, Nev. The winner will likely emerge as a frontrunner to become the next challenger to UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Coutureâ€™s throne.

That is great news.

Kongo doesn't have much of a chance here. Big Nog is very good.

I say Big Nog submits Kongo in the second round.

Big Nog in the first round. Kongo is great when he doesn't have to worry at all about being taken down, but with Nog in there he doesn't stand a chance.

Yeah, I really dont see Kongo having much of a chance. He may surprise us tho, everyone counted him out in the Crocop fight. his ground game definitely needs some work, but nog got rocked in his last fight, almost got TKO'd. Definitely interesting, although they need to give poor Randy a fight before he fights the winner, thats 6 monthes between fights, he's not getting any younger.

yeah but he needs that time to rehab the arm, becasue he isn't young he needs more time between fights to recoup and begin the training process all over again.

Nog was rocked, but still has yet to be KO'd

Arlovski should be considered somewhere in the picture. Also the winner of Sylvia/ Vera

sylvia wont be in the title picture for as long as randy is champ probably, because the fight wasnt even close. If vera wins, he might be closer, maybe have vera vs alovski if vera wins. i wanna see crocop vs arlovski. heck, i wanna see arlovski period, i dont care how boring his last fight was. he was just being a little over cautious. he should still be a top contender.

I heard that there was a contract dispute with Arlovski that is keeping him from fighting for now.

That could be wrong though.

I hadnt heard anything about that, but you may be right. I read that in a conference call that when asked about AA, Dana White said that he was still under contract. I know he made comments about his disapointing performance at the ufc 70 post conference, but that was like in april. I hope they get everything worked out whatever it is, he was a great fighter, with only 2 boring fights his whole career. he really could add some spice to these fairly lame fight cards we're being fed the next 2 monthes. The last 2 free cards have been better looking than the next 2 ppv's
