It was really tough on that kid last week finding out his cousin had passed away and then he had to fight. At least they allowed him to stay on the show - it was the right thing to do.
Hughes must be mega pissed, he's losing fights left, right, and centre.
I am caught up on the series (many thanks to Phantom for providing me the links) and it has been good so far.
It had to be hard on the guy to fight after finding out that his cousin had just died, but it did earn him a lot of respect. Dana likes guy who make sacrifices like that because they love MMA. It will look good on him in the long run.

Yeah... I've always thought, even if you don't win the season, if you get your head down, work hard, make the most of the experiance, and impress Dana and the coaches with your attitude, then you'll have a good shot at fighting in the UFC. Many guys just give up after they lose, which is the wrong attitude. Just look at Leben, Koschek, Jardine, Hamill etc.. They didn't win their respective seasons but they had a good attitude and they are fighting in the UFC.

That one kid that Matt Serra picked first ruined himself. They even told him if he left he would never have a chance in the UFC and Serra told him he would not be allowed to train in his gyms anymore and the guy left any way because he wanted to see his girlfriend of six months. They are probably not even dating any more now.
He just ruined his shot right there.

Best fight of the season so far last week. I'd have liked to have seen it go to a third round, but I can see where the judges came from with the decision.
Hughes is taking an ass whooping. Back in Season 2 he'd punish them really bad if they weren't performing well. He doesn't seem to be doing that this season. The main problem he has is that his team aren't listening to his instructions, and going along with the game plan.
I'm interested to see what happens this week with Hughes.

Yeah, it should be good. Dana told him to "work their asses off".
He will be brutal.

I agree that Hughes seems to have a bunch of hotheads who just completely ignore what he has to say from the corner. Though if I was in there fighting against someone cornered by Matt Serra, I'd be listening to Serra too!
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I really lost track of this season, due to many things, but I’ve finally cought up over the weekend and finished watching this season.
From the quarter final stage I thought either George Sotiropoulos or Mac Danzig were easily going to fight each other in the finale. Tommy Speer was really impressive in the Semis against George, and he well and truly knocked the Auzzie into next week!!
Danzig was a worthy winner in my opinion. Tommy and probably George will both have good UFC careers in the not to distant future. But I’m pleased Danzig got the overall victory.
Roll on Team Forest vs. Team Rampage… I already can’t wait
I saw Tommy Speer on a WEC match (looked like it was taped before TUF finale), he also scored a 1st round KO victory in that fight. The finish looked eerily similar to the finish of the Sotiropoulos fight, where his opponent's eyes were rolling to the back of the eye sockets after 2 punches from Speer from the mount.
This season didn't look so promising at first, in terms of producing prospects, but now there's actually quite a few guys I look forward to watching in the future. Danzig, Speers, Ben Saunders, and Sotiropoulos quickly come to mind.
