Yeah, I'd hafta agree with Dak on this one, Silva would probably get the win. Silva does have a weak chin, but Chuck has never beat more than a decent striker really...never one that wanted to stand with him. I do think that a lot of the PRIDE fighters are overrated, but Silva is just a balls-out striker. On a good day, he can really stand with just about anyone. I think he'll be the UFC LHW champ by the end of 2008.

I can't believe this thread has no mention whatsoever of Houston Alexander, thats a perfect number 1 contender in my eyes, does his destrcution of Jardine count for nothing. Even if he lost to Rampage it would be a perfect 1 round slug-fest with a highlight finish whilst Dana puts something together for Rampages next fight.

I had a sig, once.

Re: Chuck vs Wanderlei

Who knows...he could be the real deal...but after only 2 fights I dont think the UFC would give him a title shot. It would take so much marketing to get a decent number of buys just because no one really knows who he is. It would just be hard to show that he really earned a title shot yet, but who knows, Anderson Silva got a title show after only 1 fight, but Franklin had already run through the whole division. LHW is possibly the deepest division in the whole UFC, second maybe to WW. I say Jardine vs Rampage in late Nov or Dec, then if Jardine wins maybe give Houston a second shot @ him...like they did Jeremy Horn as Chuck's 1st title defense. I just cant see them throwing him a title shot with so much talent already in the division, too many people would be pissed, even tho he may be skilled enough to pull it off. Guess we'll hafta see.

I agree, Alexander does not quite deserve his title shot yet. Anexander as actually said he's like to fight Bisping in his next fight:

Houston is a beast, and as much as I like Bisping, I think he would Maul him.

As for SIlva vs Chuck, this was one thing I really liked in Pride, guys lost sometimes, but it never felt like it made them worthless. It's a dream match and it needs to happen.

I would give the edge to Silva if he has taken enough time off to get his shit straight.
