| Update on MMA suspensions Royce Gracie, as he'd stated, didn't bother filing an appeal for his suspension, so he's out at least a year and may never fight again given his age.
Tim Persey, who failed for METH, also did not file and appeal, so his suspension will be upheld.
Johnnie Morton was fined $7,500 for failing to submit a test for drugs of abuse, testing positive for an elevated T/E ratio (84:1) (yes), and failing to comply with a request from the Commission to explain his actions on June 2nd. Each strike was $2,500. His license has been revoked for a year, and if he wants to fight again next year he'll have to appear before the Commission and ask for approval. He paid his fine and I suspect that's it for him in MMA. When you consider his purse ($100,000) and the fine ($7,500), he likely shed few tears.
Same with Gracie, who made three times as much to fight and got fined 1/3rd Morton's amount. The CSAC also fined Joseph Sakoda, Morton's Chief Second, $5,000 for advising Morton not to take his drugs of abuse test, and for failing to comply with a request from the Commission to explain his actions that night. His license has also been revoked for a year. |
