Quote:
After Wanderlei Silva pulled out of the fight with Liddell, Chuck was presented with four possible opponents. Keith Jardine, "Shogun" Rua, Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Lyoto Machida. Based on several factors, including popularity and familiarity, the decision was made to go with Jardine.
It is not a very popular decision by most fans perspective.
Thats a pretty big sissy move right there but whatever, if Liddell wants an easy road back to the title...

Re: Chuck Liddell Turns Down Fight With Shogun, Nakamura and Machida
I can see why people would think this is a sissy move.
If you put yourself in Chuck's shoes though it make perfect sense. He just lost to Rampage and if he takes a risky match against Shogun and loses, that would severely hurt his career. For a former champion to lose two in a row, he may as well retire.

Re: Chuck Liddell Turns Down Fight With Shogun, Nakamura and Machida
I agree ith Dak to an extent but what if he did beat Shogun? That would catapult him right back to the top without having to go through tune up fights.. I know I personally would have a hell of a lot more respect for him if he said screw it and grew a pair.
Re: Chuck Liddell Turns Down Fight With Shogun, Nakamura and Machida
It's not that he doesn't have a pair, it is about risks, if he loses his first fight after losing the title, it hits him back even further from the title, getting an easy fight first is a smart move if nothing else, after winning this fight I can see him going with an accomplished fighter.

Re: Chuck Liddell Turns Down Fight With Shogun, Nakamura and Machida
The site that reported that is inacurate. Chuck didn't have the choice, those were names the UFC were discussing and they chose Jardine and simply told Chuck who he was facing.
