According to MMAWeekly.com, UFC lightweight champ Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca have filed appeals with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) following their positive steroid tests after his lightweight title bout at UFC 73.
When speaking to the CSAC Executive Director Armando Garcia Sherk said he had never even heard of the steroid Nandrolone, the steroid for which he had been found to test positive.
Garcia said that Sherk has the option to do his own independent testing but the CSAC will not give Sherk another test.
According to Garcia, Franca's appeal looks to be in an effort to try and shorten his one-year suspension.
Both Franca and Sherk's appeals are set to be heard on August 6th, the same day as Phil Baroni and boxer James Toney.
Meeeh, Maybe hell get it shortend alittle for admiting that he was wrong, but what can you do. I hope he gets the full fine and Sherk dosnt >.>

Well you know <_< I like Sherk better, theres also the possiblity of a false postive because of a mix of supliments blah blah blah ect etc etc
If any one of two of them got a false reading it would be Franca.
Just take a look at Sherk. That's not natural.....

Well Considering Franca admited to taking the steriods...I doubt thats possible >.>
Exactly.
No way Sherk isn't on the juice either. Just looking at the guy and his physical performances lately and it is clear that he is not operating naturally.
That is just as good as a confession.
At least Franca was honest about it.

Its possible he could just be built, Im not really passing judgment on Sherk until the appeal happens. But if you see some of the work outs that guy has done and the amount of suppliments and health food he eats, I'm not going to say hes done it so fast. The man cares about his body to point where he actually eats stuff that tastes like crap just because its good for him, If it turns out that he actually did take them, Then I'll be disapointed to say the least.
The fact that his test for nandralone is only 12 is fishy to, Its not totally uncalled for an Athlete that works out like Sean Sherk just has natualy higher levels (The levels of someone activly using nandralone is 40 and 80). His training partner Nick Thompson also pointed out in a blog that Sherk would have had to been coming off a cycle and been taking Surgery while he was having surgery on his shoulder.
Whatever happens happens, Theres just other reason why Sherk tested higher then normal.
Also Franca's confession was half assed at best, I seriously hope the judge dosn't buy the "I live pay check to pay check" bull shit he was spewing. The man owns a BJJ School with about 200 students for christ sakes, hes not doing THAT bad.
