Only a day after being confirmed as fighting on the UFC 75 card in London, England on September 8th Mirko ‘‘Cro Cop’’ Filipovic plans to retire after seeing out the remaining 4 fights of his UFC contract.
‘‘Cro Cop’’, has had mixed fortunes since joining the UFC, for a 6-fight deal from his former promoter Pride. Before losing in devastating fashion to Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 70: Nations Collide he was reckoned by many to be the second best heavyweight on the planet, after Fedor Emelianenko, and the natural successor to Randy Couture's heavyweight UFC world title.
‘‘Cro Cop’’ has voiced his desire to return to the secret police at the end both his current term in the Croatian parliament and UFC contract.

Yep, hes been saying it for awhile that after this contract he'd go back in to the police thing. Good for him i suppose, but hes never going to get the belt now V_V

He talks about retiring all the time, and most people think it is to create leverage when contract time comes around. However I think if he is the UFC HW champ by the end of his contract he will stick around. He at least has to sign a contract extension if he gets a title shot, I believe I have heard that is standard practice.
