Henderson to Face Rampage for LW Title

Dan Henderson will face Quinton â€œRampageâ€ Jackson for Jacksonâ€™s newly won UFC 205-pound title at a future date, the UFC announced on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

UFC President Dana White revealed on Thursday that someone would be challenging the winner of Jackson-Liddell. Many speculated that PRIDE 2005 Grand Prix winner Mauricio â€œShogunâ€ Rua, who White confirmed as being UFC-bound, would be the mystery challenger.

Jackson knocked out Liddell with a right hook at 1 minute and 53 seconds to win the UFC light heavyweight belt, a title held by Liddell since April 2005.

The bout will mark the first time a UFC champion will fight a PRIDE champion in what could be a unification bout.

Henderson is the only fighter to hold major titles in two different weight classes at the same time. Henderson added the PRIDE 205-pound title alongside his PRIDE 183-pound title last February when he knocked out Wanderlei Silva at PRIDE 33.

That'd certainly be sweet bu you know, I love how MMA is being run right now. Nobody is ducking anyone and we're able to see the best face the best.

Rumor has it Shogun Vs Ortiz is next if Ortiz wins Dan lol but its just a rumor, hopefully Shogun can come in and whip ass. <_< before lossing to Henderson and Rampage

, I unno I like Shogun and all, I just think the Octagon is going to fudge up his game plans.

White had no specific dates ready for either of these marquee match-ups.

Jackson’s icebreaking KO mirrored much of the night’s succession of quick, conclusive bouts, six of which didn’t leave the first round.

an educated guess would say he has a match with The Spider after the Rampage match up. I hope so at least, I'm digging the PRIDE vs UFC fights. Hopefully they can get Sherk Vs Gomi and Fedor Vs Couture some time down the line to.
