Rep Power: 97 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Brock Lesnar comments! From F4W/ Observer - (Didn't catch the name of the show!) They told the story of Brock Lesnar. He's dropped about 30 pounds or so from his WWE weight. They talked about his pro-wrestling career, saying the one thing that frustrated him about it was that it was, you know, fake, and he couldn't beat people's asses. They showed clips of Hong-Man Choi, who is a literal giant. He's so big, but he's got largely normal proportions, so in all of his fights it just looks like a grown man against kids. He doesn't look phenomenally skilled, but again, he's a huge man in there with kids and he hits really hard. And, of course, we know nothing about Brock's MMA abilities. Rena Mero was there and they identified her as his wife. She was still billed as "Rena Mero". They showed clips of Brock training with the same dudes that trained him for the NCAA's. Hong-Man did a promo through a translator talking about how he was tall and lanky as a kid and got beat up a lot. NO MORE. He fought like a madman, made a bunch of money, and then bought a house for his parents, who had been through many hardships. They showed footage of several of his wins, including over Semmy Schilt in a big upset, and then showed Mighty Mo knocking him the fuck out in an equally huge upset. I have no earthly idea why they aired that. Brock noted that he only trained twice per day, saying he felt a lot of guys overtrained, and rest was just as important as training. Greg Nelson has been working standup with him. He was billed as an "MMA Specialist." Brock said he was practicing big punches for way up high. Better not concentrate too much on way up high, because leg kicks go way down low. He said he wasn't going to be intimidated by this guy and would be coming for blood. They also plugged Jan Finney vs. Gina Carrano. At least they know who the money players would be for the mainstream, the former WWE champion preparing to do it for real and the hot charismatic girl who can whip ass. This wasn't HBO 24/7, but it did make me pretty excited that I'll be there LIVE!~!.

More news from a Brock Lesnar conference call last week - "Practice makes perfect," he said, "and I am surrounding myself with a good group of guys and good trainers. So I guess I would have to say the Jiu-Jitsu kind of flowed real well and probably the standup game, learning to get my shoulders to relax and to throw hands. I have been working on throwing punches for a solid year, and I just came leaps and bounds from the first day that I started to even fathom (myself) of me as a fighter. Obviously, everybody has room to grow. Experience is the key. I am even curious when I get into the ring as to how I am going to react. Hopefully, everything comes together. I have had enough repetitions. Just the other day, we were sparring and we were wrestling and my hands were flying around looking for angles and we were supposed to be wrestling. I have done so many repetitions. Even with the sparring; some days we are sparring and adding takedowns to it, and when we are not supposed to, I am throwing takedowns in. You want to practice so it just becomes instinct, and I believe that I am at that place." He said it was tough finding training partners the size of Hong-Man. He's done a lot of training with Sean Sherk, who is no Hong-Man Choi physically, but he does come from a similar background as Brock and has been a success. He's training for Jiu-Jitsu under Greg Nelson. He has not been training regularly with the Miletich camp. He had a line that will hardly endear him to any BJJ guys: "I think there are a lot of MMA fighters that are envious of my amateur wrestling experience because every gym that I go to, everybody tells me, ‘Man, I wish I had a lot more wrestling experience.’ Because you cannot learn wrestling overnight. You are able to spend time as a Jiu-Jitsu wrestler and pick things up rather quickly, but amateur wrestling is a feel thing and it is all about positioning. So is Jiu-Jitsu, but you take an average Joe off the street and you can teach them Jiu-Jitsu, and a wrestler with 10 years experience can come in and will eat them up." They asked if he would fight at 265 pounds or below. He said: "I think this is a super fight, so I can come in weighing basically whatever I wanted." He said he'd be there at 270. Regarding Kurt Angle: "I would really like to fight Kurt. If somebody is willing to promote that fight, I am all for it. I think Kurt has done enough jaw jacking where – I have said it before – he has got to either put up or shut up. It is time for him to stop running his mouth and to physically do something. I am the kind of guy who is going to walk the walk, and I do not do a lot of talking. So if there is a promoter out there that is willing to back this fight, I am all for it. If Kurt has enough guts to do it, then let us do it".
