Eddie Sanchez Returns to UFC Against UK Slugger Colin Robinson

Eddie Sanchez (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), fresh off a disappointing yet hardly unexpected UFC 67 loss to Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, will face UFC newcomer and Irish native Colin Robinson (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at Belfast’s UFC 72 event, according to the latest rumor posted by MMAWeekly.com.
UFC 72 takes place at Odyssey Arena on June 16. The show, which airs on Spike TV, will be the first-ever UFC show in Ireland.
Sanchez, who made his Octagon debut at UFC 63 with a KO win over Mario Neto, was the unfortunate sacrificial lamb during Filipovic’s initial foray into UFC action. Sanchez weathered an initial swarm up strikes before succumbing to a TKO at 4:33 of the first round.
All things considered, Sanchez emerged from the potential carnage fairly unscathed.
At just 24 years of age, the Californian represents a small circle of young heavyweight hopefuls looking to contend with the UFC’s recent influx of veteran talent.
As was the case at UFC 67, Sanchez will have to endure what will surely be an unfriendly crowd as he takes on Ireland’s own Robinson.
Although Robinson boasts a four-fight winning streak, those wins came against fighters who now sport career records of 1-1, 0-1, 11-6 and 0-1.
He’ll likely be one of a handful of Irish fighters who are eventually added to the event’s fight card — and more specifically, it’s undercard. The UFC usually stocks its preliminary lineup with homegrown talent for the local crowds.
UFC 72 is expected to be headlined by a main event of Rich Franklin vs. Martin Kampmann
Hope Sanchez dosn't run this whole fight otherwise he may have a chance, UFC 72 is starting to shape up though..I wish they'd start freaking annoucing UFC 71 fights >_<
