We’ve heard the rumors floating for a couple days, but today a credible source I know has confirmed the story, so we’re comfortable bringing it to you. UFC lightweights Melvin Guillard (20-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who is set to face Joe “Daddy” Stevenson at UFC Fight Night 9 in April, and The Ultimate Fighter 4 cast member Rich “No Love” Clementi (24-11-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) have apparently been cultivating a serious rivalry that has recently heated up to the point of boiling over. The two lightweights apparently started the feud by exchanging heated e-mails talking trash. You can follow some of the back-story on the MMA.tv forums, where Clementi is actually a poster. On page five of the thread, Clementi (posting under the name “No Love”) actually weighs in with some reported email transcripts between Guillard and himself. This history of e-trash talk apparently came to a head last weekend, where at a local fight event, Guillard reportedly walked up to Clementi and punched him during an exchange of words. According to reports, Guillard walked over, Clementi put out his hand for a shake and asked, “What’s up with those e-mails?” Apparently, before Clementi could finish, Guillard punched him in the face but didn’t noticeably hurt him. The two fighters squared off, but nothing happened, and it eventually got broken up. Guillard then apparently threatened to shoot Clementi, stating, “Next time I’ll hit you with my pistol,” which consequently lead to him being tossed out of the fights. According to sources close to one of the fighters, the two lightweights are now in discussions with UFC matchmaker Joe Silva in hopes of setting up an official fight in the Octagon. While these type of personal rivalries usually make for great fights, I’m not sure that Silva will grant a matchup between the rising Guillard and Clementi unless, perhaps, Guillard needs a rebound fight if he loses to Stevenson in April.
lol, I really hope they set up this fight just for some reason im not suprised at Melvin
I found a poor man once
He was the age of fifty-three
He spoke about the government
And the thought of being free
What good does us reason if we fail to see?
What good does us freedom if we fail to be free
