Heath Herring

Brief History
Herring in recent years has made strides in becoming a fan favorite amoungst Hardcore fans of the MMA Sport. After having some impressive outings in PRIDE Herring showed up on alot of peoples Top 10 Heavyweights in the world list before being derailed in back to back losses to Mirko "CroCop: Filipovic and Fedor Emelianenko.

However Herring would become a certian of attention two years later on New Years Eve 2005 when he faced Yoshihiro Nakao at the annual K-1 DYNAMITE! event. While reciving instructions before the fight Nakao would lean in and Kiss Herring on the lips during the stare down. Herring responded by slapping Nakao knocking him out and reminding everyone in the crowd repeatedly that he was infact "not a homosexual". The fight would be ruled a No Contest afterwards since Both fighters broke the same rule. Almost the day after Herring and Nakao had became internet celebritys as the incident became ever so popular on YouTube.

On the Heels of the incident UFC signed Herring through the WFA Buy out and would hype Ultimate Fight 9's TV ads heavyly around "The Kiss Heard Round The World" and Herrings debut along with barely any mention of the Main event and Hermes Franca Vs Spencer Fisher. Upon his UFC Debut Herring entered with his usual Cowboy hat and trench coat to a standing ovation from the crowd but UFC new comer Jako O'Brien would take down Herring at will as soon as the fight started. Herring would go on to lose the fight 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 all in favour of Jake O'Brien. Herring would later revile that he had fought with a torn ACL explaining that his stance was so awkward because he wanted to protect his knee and not risk hurting it further.

After returning to form beating Brad Imes at UFC 69, Herring would come close to beating old foe, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira with a head kick at the end of round one. Herring however would elect to force a damage Nog to his feet not taking advantage of his chances, Herring would ultimately lose the fight.
