Brief History
Mark Coleman while not as widely known as the Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracies of MMA, is right up there with them. Coleman was the first ever UFC Heavyweight Champion and won two UFC Tournaments in a Row (see UFC 10-11) And that was all the way back in 1996! Since then Coleman hasn't been seen round UFC's parts as hes been spending alot of time over in Japan even winning the PRIDE Grand Prix in 2000. Current PRIDE Heavyweight Champion, Fedor Emelianenko also credits Coleman for his style of Ground and Pound which he learned from watching Colemans fights.
Coleman was a source of controversy when he broke Shogun's arm during a wrestling shoot at PRIDE 31. Coleman tossed the ref a side as he came in to break them up causing Chute Boxe members to rush the ring and attack Coleman. After the incident Chute Boxe Member Wanderlei Silva acussed Coleman of steping on his neck after he came to Shogun's defence, Which Coleman promtly denied in Interviews after the fight but

He's also the founder of the Team Hammer House camp in Ohio which is home to noteables Kevin Randelman, Wes Sims and Phil Baroni. Althought not widely known Mark Coleman does hold a victory over Olympic Gold Metalist Kurt Angle in a wrestling tournament in 1995.
