Chris Horodecki (13-1 MMA, 0-0 WEC), one of the biggest stars to come out of the now-defunct International Fight League, has signed with World Extreme Cagefighting and is expected to make his promotional debut against fellow lightweight Anthony Njokuani (11-2 MMA, 2-1 WEC) in December at WEC 45.
The WEC announced the signing via Twitter, and company officials told MMAjunkie he's expected to debut in December.
Although the WEC couldn't confirm an opponent, MMAjunkie.com has since learned it'll likely be Njokuani.
WEC 45 hasn't officially been announced by the organization, but the event is expected to take place Dec. 19 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The night's main card airs on Versus.
Horodecki, who turned 22 just last month, moved from the Canadian-based TKO organization to the IFL in 2006. He went 8-1 in the organization but failed to win the coveted lightweight championship after suffering an upset to Ryan Schultz in December 2007. In the past 18 months, Horodecki has fought just once (a win over William Sriyapai at a June 2009 Ultimate Chaos event), largely because of neck and arm injuries, as well as the demise of Affliction Entertainment, with whom he had been under contract.
The Shawn Tompkins-trained fighter enters the WEC with an impressive record. After posting knockout wins in six of his first 12 career wins, Horodecki picked up his first submission win in his most recent outing.
Njokuani, meanwhile, debuted with the WEC in January and suffered a loss to now-interim lightweight champion Benson Henderson via second-round submission.
However, the Nigerian has since rebounded for a pair of impressive TKO victories. The first came against IFL stand-out Bart Palaszewski at WEC 40. And earlier month, in a bout that earned him a $10,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus, he topped Muhsin Corbbrey at WEC 43.
Not too sure why WEC has a LW division tbh, the UFC has LW division.
It's a good signing but he would be better in the UFC.

I actually like the move. He's a talented fighter but still developing. Tossing him into the UFC LW division could ruin him, especially if he ends up facing some very experienced fighters.
