And you had the task of trying to sell out your first show at MSG, who you would book. Lets assume it finally got legalized there, and you were planning your first show there. You want to sell it out to make a statement, want no empty seats, who you book against who? Let's make it realistic too.
Brock Lesnar vs. Mir III (Assuming Fedor is unavailable)- You could add so much hype to this, both have wins over the other, etc.
Couture vs. Forrest- 205
Rampage vs. Rashad
Anderson Silva vs. GSP
Penn vs. Sanchez
Cain vs. Carwin
----
None are in order. I'm sure you can think of a lot better match ups that would draw, it's late and I'm tired.

Well, I'm going to go with match ups that aren't already booked and that would be exciting.
Light Heavyweight Championship: Anderson Silva vs. Lyoto Machida (Assuming this was possible. Instant main event imo.)
Heavyweight Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir III(I agree with JD on this one, would bring in huge ratings.)
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Rich Franklin.
Diego Sanchez vs. Kenny Florian II
Mike Swick vs. Jake Shields (An exciting striker vs. an exciting grappler who would be debuting in the UFC. 'and Yes, this is because I'm a Shields mark.)
Forrest Griffin vs. Thiago Silva

Machida successfully defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with his face.
Chuck Liddell vs Anderson Silva
It'd be Liddell's return fight from Dancing with the Stars and Silva's last fight. The build to the fight would be HUGE. They're generaly considered the two greatest fighters in UFC history. They could build Chuck up as being in the best shape of his life and such. And the perfect ending would be Chuck (The guy all the fans love) knocking out Anderson (The guys a lotta fans despise)
Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir 3
It'd be huge. They're still talking shit about eachother even though Lesnar dominated Mir, So there's no lack of story behind it. Lesnar would likely dominate the fight again though.
Forrest Griffin vs Randy Couture
It'd just be a huge fight between two fan favorites.

First of all, why would they put a washed up fighter who is in semi retirement right now into the cage with one of, if not the pound for pound best fighter in the world? It would make no sense and Chuck would obviously lose. Chuck lost 4 out of the last 5 fights he had meaning that Chuck doesn't deserve to be in the same cage as Anderson Silva,
Second off, where did you read that most fans despise Silva?

I'm assuming he's guessing that based on the heat and boos Silva got during his past 2 title defenses and heading into the fight with Forrest. They were mostly due to his lack of offense I'm sure most forgot about those fights after his dominance of Griffin.

Machida successfully defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with his face.
Well, I think Couture will do better at LHW than HW. There are some very interesting match-ups for him at LHW where his size won't be a disadvantage.
Why Machida? Because I think Machida is a great fighter, but not unbeatable. I don't think there's such thing as "unbeatable". What it would take is a strong fighter executing the right game plan - which I think would be to keep it close, close the distance, and grind. Someone with size and grappling. I think that approach would have been Rashad Evans best chance but he's much more about the striking now. Rampage could potentially do it, but again, he's more likely to stand and trade... and get dropped. Couture gameplans well, so he would find the best approach and stick to it. Would Couture actually be able to pull it off? I doubt it, but I think he would at least have a chance. Best chance of anyone against Machida except maybe Anderson Silva, which isn't happening.
Basically, its a legend-making fight. Either Machida beats a legend and cements his status or Couture wins and has another unlikely, unbelievable victory.

Some nice match-ups you have come up with here definitely would buy the PPV for most of them.
apart from his last fight, I enjoy watching Forest Griffin go up against anyone really but I like the idea of him facing Randy Couture although he would probably get mauled.
Anderson Silva v GSP would be amazing best two pound for pound fighters in the world in my opinion that would be awesome. If not this then AS v Machida but Silva seems reluctant to do that.
Opening fight; Clay Guida v Diego Sanchez one more time would be awesome in my opinion, been fight of the year so far by my reckoning.
