BloodyElbow was first to catch wind of a Randy Couture appearance on CBS Sports’ Lavar Arrington Show where Couture -- after being teed up by the hosts -- expressed interest in a fight with Anderson Silva. (This will probably turn into “Couture Agrees to Silva Fight” and, later, into “Couture, Silva to Fight in Yankee Stadium on Thanksgiving” by the end of the business day.)
“They [Zuffa] certainly haven't approached me with it,” Couture said. “I think the idea's been kicked around, but I don't know if it's being kicked around by the executives at Zuffa.”
What it needs is to be kicked out. It’s great box office, but not worth much in the way of intrigue. Couture is 46 and gets by in the heavyweight division because the man-beasts there don’t move like they’re on amphetamines. Light-heavyweights -- where Couture was bumped from years ago -- change levels like Barry Allen in comparison. This fight only happens if Silva and the UFC insist on a 205-pound fight for the middleweight champion in the fall or winter: everyone else in that class is tied up with major bouts.

Of course he does. Couture loves a challenge and he also knows a money fight. This would be both. He needs to worry about getting past Nog first, obviously.

Even if he lost to Big Nog, it wouldn't harm Couture that much just because he would be moving down a weight class.
This is now my dream fight, I would love for this to happen. I doubt Couture can beat Silva, but one thing I've learned is, "Never count Couture out".
Well, it makes it a less interesting fight to sell. For all his legacy, Couture would still be a fighter coming off back-to-back losses. Top-level opponents or not, that's still taking something away from the match-up.

Well, its not like he lost to a complete bum. Right now Brock is considered a monster and having lost to him is not that big of a deal...plus Couture is the only guy so far who didnt get dominated by Lesnar, in fact I still believe that in a rematch he could maybe take him. He just got caught in that fight, simple as that.
Losing to Nogueira wouldnt hurt as well. Big Nog has always been considered one of the best fighters. I know what you mean, but it wouldnt be that bad. Look at W.Silva, the guy keeps losing and yet it doesnt hurt him.

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?

Actually, Wanderlei isn't the best example. The Wanderlei-Liddell fight was a dream superfight that the UFC couldn't promote that fight the way it likely would have because both men came in on back-to-back losses. Sure, it was still a big fight that fans wanted to see. But if they both came in still dominant like they had been for years, it would have been a Penn-GSP level super fight.
If Couture does lose to Nog, I can't see how a subsequent fight between Couture and Silva could be as big as if Couture came in on at least one win. If that happens, no amount of UFC hype will change the fact that Couture is a 46-year old fighter coming in on back-to-back losses (regardless of opponent) who hasn't won a fight since August of 2007 and hasn't won at LHW since August of 2005. It would still be an interesting fight that a lot of people would want to see (myself as well) and it would sell a lot of PPVs. I think it ends up being much like the Silva-Griffin fight - damned interesting and one a lot of people want to see, but not a true super fight.

He can give him an idea how hard he hits and how fast Silva is. Every little thing helps.
I wouldn't ask Forrest for help. Couture probably got more out of the Forrest/Silva fight than Forrest did. I know this was awhile ago, but if I had to ask anyone, it would probably be Henderson. I'd like to see this fight though, because I like watching both of these guys. However with only 3 fights left on his contract, I don't see Couture getting that chance, unless he does move up to 205; which reports are saying he's not now.
