Phil Baroni has verbally agreed to a contract with the UFC, according to a source close to the fighter. The veteran welterweight’s potential signing will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows as well as shed some light on the brewing feud between the UFC and rival promotion Strikeforce.
According to an MMAJunkie.com report, the UFC has also signed Dennis Hallman, another former Strikeforce fighter. A source close to the UFC intimated more signings might be on the horizon as fighters complete their Strikeforce contracts.
Strikeforce matchmaker Bob Cook confirmed to Sherdog.com that Baroni was released from his Strikeforce contract in the past few days and would be free to sign with another promotion.
Baroni (13-11) dropped a unanimous decision to Joe Riggs in St. Louis in June. He had won three bouts in a row before the loss.
yes, yes, yes.
I want Baroni Vs Silva god damnit!

There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no more pain, no more parting over there;
And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
His name is still worth something. I actually don't mind the fact they signed him. I know he wouldnt have a chance against GSP, but at least now the UFC Welterweight Champion has someone new he could fight/destroy...that is if Baroni actually wins his first fight in the UFC.

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
I'd say throw him a big name fight off the bat. He's pretty meh imo so give him a challenge and make him earn his way into the UFC again.
A friend of mine suggested Baroni vs. Serra when he heard the news, and I think that is the perfect match-up. First of all, the shit talking alone would be worth it, but it'd be good for Serra to rebound from his two previous losses, and like you said... Baroni would be given a chance to prove himself against a top name.
