Diego Sanchez Next In Line For The Lightweight Belt?
Here's a bias report by Kevin Iole
Quote:
Diego will get the next title shot against the winner of the B.J. Penn-Kenny Florian fight at UFC 101 on Aug. 8 in Philadelphia. While I agree with you that Maynard is deserving, Sanchez is a former “Ultimate Fighter” winner and is 10-2 in the UFC, not counting his wins on TUF 1. While I wouldn’t be opposed to having Maynard and Sanchez fight and seeing that winner get the title shot, I believe Sanchez has won enough fights and waited a long enough time to deserve the next chance.
Kevin is a pretty honest reporter, but I don't like the background biasness he's putting on this. Maynard is wrapped up with a possible Huerta fight, and the guy has been ruling the 155 division, especially since knocking a potential contender in Clay Guida down the rankings.

Diego made such quick work of Florian the first time, yes it was 4 years ago and yes Florian has improved a lot since then but I wouldn't bet on it being much different, it would be the best move to have him against BJ rather than KenFlo again.

Well I mentioned that it was 4 years ago and that Florian has improved, but the actual weight it was at is a good point, I forgot that it was high. However Diego being a lot lighter would just spell him being a lot faster to me, I don't think it would end as fast but I just can't see Diego not ending it.

I'm actually for Sanchez/Florian 2 if Florian wins against Penn. But I'm more of giving Sanchez the shot and for Florian if he loses, work him with Clay Guida or do Stevenson/Florian 2.
How much of a fucking war would Penn/Sanchez be?

Well whether I want to see it or not it looks like the logical path tbh, but only if he does beat BJ, should he become the champ then they will surely give the guy that TKO'd him in the first a shot at him.
