Re: Diego Sanchez Next In Line For The Lightweight Belt?
Having Maynard and Sanchez fight is just a bad idea. Sanchez will get next title shot against the winner of Penn/Florian. Then Maynard will be the next contender after that. UFC is thinking more long term, with both getting a title shot in the future most likely(if Maynard beats Huerta of course) rather than have the two top contenders face each other now.

We're not going to think about if Maynard wins because if he does I'm not sure we'll see Huerta again. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Well let's be honest, when that fight comes around it will have been over a year since the last time Roger Huerta fought... he will be rusty and Maynard is a very tough challenge for him.

I truly believe the only way Diego gets a Title shot that soon is if Florian wins. He'll step up right away and take that fight. But as I said in my previous post, BJ's going to want some time off and it could take up to like ten months after Diego's last fight before they meet up, and I don't think Dana wants that, nor does Diego deserve it. I love Diego Sanchez, but what exactly has he done that warrants a title shot so quickly? As epic as the fight against Guida was, it wasn't flat out obvious that Diego won it. That decision could've gone either way. Hell, thinking about it... Diego and Guida should have a rematch and the winner of that should get the next title shot, and then the winner of Maynard/Huetra could be in line after that.
And as far as the Maynard/Huetra fight is concerned... I love Huetra's style, but it doesn't boat well against a wrestler who's as big and strong as Maynard is for the LW weight class. Unless Huetra has some amazing Jiu-Jitsu we've yet to see from him, I see no way he wins this fight because I picture Huetra being on his back the majority of it.

Re: Diego Sanchez Next In Line For The Lightweight Belt?
Umm, Sanchez is 10-2 in the UFC, on a four fight win streak and has beaten two lightweight title contenders in his two lightweight fights. Not to mention all the big names he beat up at welterweight. He deserves a title shot over anyone else in the lightweight division with the exception of Maynard, who will be fighting Huerta.
As for BJ, he already took some time off after the GSP fight and if he takes more time off Dana will probably only give him a couple extra months again. I'm sure Diego will be more than happy to wait a couple extra months for the opportunity to take on the LW champion.

Interim belts are complete crap.
I hope they don't do that.
