From MMA Madness:
The long standing rumored bout between Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez has been fueled since Velasquez defeated Cheick Kongo at UFC 99.
The fight is looking to be closer to becoming a reality as sources close to the event confirmed to MMA Madness that the bout has been offered to both camps and is awaiting to be signed from each side for the UFC 104 card in Los Angeles on Oct. 24.
Carwin also confirmed the fight on his Twitter earlier today, stating, "Looks like I'll be fighting October 24 in LA. Good to know"
Nice heavyweight battle of rising stars I'm actually ready to see. I really like watching Cain perform.

The winner of this fight should easily get a title fight against the winner of Mir/Lesnar, especially if Carwin wins with him STILL being undefeated in MMA. IDK about Valesquez though, he's still young and a little inexperienced for me.
Should be a great fight though between Valesquez/Carwin...
Re: Shane Carwin Will Take On Cain Velasquez at UFC 104
This could ruin Carwins probable final chance to be Heavyweight king, the dude isn't getting any younger.
This fight doesn't make a lot of sense right now, Carwin does deserve a shot right now without this fight and Cain clearly isn't ready, should Cain lose this fight, it isn't the end of the world because he's young and he could just get back on track and start again. If Carwin were to lose then I don't think he would get back up there.
If Cain wins and gets a shot then fair play to the lad, but he just isn't ready yet.

I'm still wishing they would hold out on Cain to face Heath Herring, which would be an equal test. I think right now, the UFC wants to see how Couture/Nog fight will work out. Granted, it is unfair to Carwin.

Exactly. Carwin already deserves a shot and Cain just isn't ready for a title shot.
However, I don't see Carwin losing but this will most likely be his longest fight yet since he hasn't gone past the 2:11 point of the first round. 'But if Cain doesn't improve his striking dramatically I do see another first round knock out for Carwin.

Seems like this fight was always bound to happen eventually ... These 2 joined the UFC about the same time and both have made a huge impact in the Heavyweight divison.
They are similar in alot of ways, But I give a advantage to Carwin on the feet for his brutal power and I believe Cain has a slight advantage when it comes to wrestling.
Close fight but Im gonna predict a win for Carwin..
