View Poll Results: who should the champ fight next?
On July 11, Brock and Mir are gonna fight to see who the UFC Undisputed Heavyweight Champion is.
But what happens after that fight? Who will be getting the next Title shot?
Well, the UFC doesnt really have a guy to go with right now. Cain Valasquez is still not ready imo and the fight against Kongo showed that.
Kongo should've been the number 1 contender, but his loss to Cain ruined that.
If Gonzaga would have beaten Carwin, I think he would have made a great challenger for either champions.
Carwin was rocked by Gonzaga and it looked like he was done in that fight, but his ability to recover, his amazing wrestling skill and his knock out power led him to victory instead. Would like him to fight one more guy before he gets a Title shot.
This is what I think should happen. If Brock beats Mir, they should have a tie breaker...Brock-Mir III would sell well in my opinion.
If Mir beats Brock, he should face the winner of the Couture/Nogueria fight.
What you guys think?

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
I don't think Couture or Nog really deserves a shot after winning a fight after a lose, whoever wins that fight needs one more win imo. I think it would be kind of a slap in the face for Brock if he had to fight Mir one more time straight after his win. It's kind of like "Well, we don't really think you are better than Mir, so he gets another shot."
As far as who the winner should fight next, it probably will either be Kongo or Carwin. Kongo did come off a loss, but if he wins his next fight they might set up Kongo/Carwin, and whoever wins will get a shot. Like you said, Cain isn't ready yet, maybe have him face the winner of Couture/Nog- to really test his skill, then go from there.
Okay people are thinking that Cain isn't ready but I think it all depends on who wins in the Lesnar/Mir fight because if Mir wins then I could see it being a pretty nice fight between Cain and Mir but Mir coming out on top from a submission somewhere, which I really don't think would be a setback for Cain because a loss to Mir isn't a setback for anyone, it is nothing to be ashamed of, I mean the currect UFC Heavyweight champion lost to Mir by getting caught and it didn't set him back in the slightest did it?
If Lesnar wins however I think that it will be pretty even matched and it would be pretty much like the Swick/Saunders fight that we just witnessed where they both cancelled eachother out so badly that nothing was really happening and the uneducating fans in Germany couldn't really appreciate it but for the educated MMA fan it is clear to see that they were just simply as good eachother and it was cancelling out.
I wouldn't see it as a surprise if Dana gave Cain the next title shot because lets be fair even if it appears that he isn't ready, he has damn well earned the shot to try if he chooses to take it. If he takes the fight then again I really wouldn't see it as a surprise if he shocked the world with an upset, the guy as a rookie has mad skills and is still developing after every fight he fights. In CFL I took Lesnar because I just see him overpowering everyone but I did recommend that GD take Cain because of how could he is now and how could he could be.

I don't see how he deserves a shot after the fight. He needs to fight Carwin before he gets a shot, because Carwin deserves it just as much as Cain does. They are both undefeated, and I don't think beating Kongo warrants much of a bid for a title shot. When you look at Kongos record, it really means nothing if someone beats him, he's pretty much a gatekeeper in his own right. He has been fighting for 8 years, and has gotten nowhere.
On Cheick Kongo's run, the only really thing that you have to question is his loss to Carmelo Marrero, which lets be fair, anyone is allowed a slip on their record, then he went and lost to Heath Herring, but the fact is that even though a complete showman, Heath is still a good fighter who on his day could fight with the bed of them. Kongo has beaten Cro Cop, As. Silva and al Turk, which okay isn't brilliant but is impressive and to be as dominant as Cain was in that fight against Kongo other than when it was standing up is more impressive that you're giving him credit for because Kongo is a worthy opponent for anyone.

If Lesnar defeats Mir this time then a trilogy between the two is defiantly in order, but not right away. I say give the winner of Lesnar/Mir II the winner of Couture/Nogueria. Then regardless of the winner of that, Lesnar/Mir III would need to happen if Lesnar defeats Mir this time.
Velasquez (26) and dos Santos (24) both need to be slowly brought into the upper echelon of the heavyweight division. Not just because they're young, but because they're in all likelihood the future of the heavyweight division. Their are three gatekeepers in the UFC heavyweight division right now in my opinion. Kongo (due to lack of ground game), Herring (due to lack of wrestling), and Gonzaga (due to what is now known as Belfortism). Velasquez has already defeated Kongo so I believe he should be tested with Herring next, and then Gonzaga. If (or should I say when) dos Santos defeats McCully then I would test him with two of the three gatekeepers. He's already defeated who a lot of people believed was the true number one contender so I wouldn't spend that much time building him up. Take it slow with those two guys though. No need at all for UFC to rush them.
Carwin (34) not so much. He's older, already defeated one gatekeeper, had more fights than Velasquez and dos Santos, and needs to be pushed up the ladder now before his physical prime is behind him. I say give him the loser of Couture/Nogueria.
