The reason Tyson opens a card is because he's such an exciting fighter he gets the crowd hot for the rest of the fights so the crowd is bumping.

It's a testament to his style and a compliment to as he basically is "Mr'.Fight of the Night"

Indeed, nothing wrong with opening up a card. MMA isn't wrestling, Nog once opened a PPV in the UFC as well.

They were testing him. They wanted to see how he fares on upper card fights. I would say a title shot is in his future, but right now, he needs to work from scratch. Fighters do it all the time.
