No, just no... this isn't WWE and "inventing" heel persona's just associates it with pro wrestling even more and takes it a step back from legitimacy. Where you see ratings, I see disrespect and an unsportsmanlike champion. Flicking off the fans to make them hate you, cool that's all good and on him. If that's the way he wants to become "that guy" then that's all good by me. 'But getting in the face of a man who's just getting off the ground after getting beaten down is disgraceful and disgusting to the SPORT. THEN, he trash talked him on the mic afterwards. Whether that's what you want to see or not, ratings or not, I don't care that's your opinion and on you, but as a fan of the ART of mixed martial arts, Lesnar disgusts me.

Machida successfully defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with his face.

I hate to break it to you, but promoting MMA is America isn't so very different from promoting pro wrestling. Or boxing. Its about creating stories to sell fights. Making fans care. It would be great if the competition was enough to do it, but its not. You see those interview promos that the UFC runs before every fight, with the fighters trash talking? That's hype. Building the storyline. Selling the fight to the fans.
You think Lesnar is the first heel in MMA? Frank Shamrock, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, and Nick Diaz all have done it. It sells fights. It makes fans care.
The thing about Lesnar doing this is that for MMA, kayfabe is still alive. Sure, a lot of hardcore fans realize that what he's doing is just self-promotion. But the casual fans? They have no idea he's just playing a role. They aren't automatically going to see through him flipping out on reports and talking shit in the cage as an act. They see this menacing monster athlete who makes them hate. It makes them care. The majority of the other fighters in the UFC have nothing to offer that will really make a casual fan care, one way or the other. Lesnar acting this way gives them reason to hate. And as long as they pay the $45 to watch the PPV next time he fights, he's doing his job and the UFC wins.
Again, this is good for the UFC. They know it. Its why Mir-Lesnar was the main event, not GSP-Alves. And there's a reason that Lesnar is the pic on the front page of ESPN.com.
I am not going to disagree with you about it being bad for the sport of MMA. But again, that's separate from the UFC. Much like I think the antics of the young fighters on The Ultimate Fighter are bad for the sport but good for the UFC. Or some of the business decisions that the UFC makes - good for the promotion, but not necessarily for the sport as a whole.

lmao with guys who now are saying Brock is a disgrace for UFC. Brock in his 5th MMA fight mauled a 245lb world class BJJ man into a pulp. Some people will NEVER have their minds changed, that’s fine. It is the audience that he will continue to bring to MMA that is important.
Brock indeed talked trash and he apologised for it already. what did you expect he would do, thanking Mir for a year of showing no respect because he's an ex-wwe superstar...please,give me a break. Mir talked 'wwe' trash for more then a year. and that's ok by the hardcore mma fan. it's ok to talk trash before the fight, but when Brock does it after the fight, then it's not done... Mir was'n at the restaurant, but he got served!!!!
and why do you think he got boo'd so badly, for his bad sportmanship or because it was in Mir his hometown. do you realy think they will boo him that bad in other city's?
talking about Bad sportmanship...Hendo? anyone...? he trow a supermanpunch on Bisping who's already KO. and he told directly after the match, he knew he was out, it was just for revenge... and that's all ok.. but that's not bad for the sports (and just when it gots extra media attention) thank god Hendo does'n have a wwe-past.
We'll see Brock's first full Undisputed defense. Then I'll decide if my mind will change opinions or not. Brock had to study is ass off because he lost to Mir. Now that he finally saw where he flawed and he payed to loss in turn with a victory over Mir, he can face someone new, which may prove to be bad. If they wait a while, and he has to face someone like Nog, who even though lost to Mir, is a much better BJJ fighter, he might fall. Still wish they would book Shane Carwin vs. Lesnar.

These are the kinds of posts that make it extremely hard to post anything involving MMA on a wrestling forum.
What Hendo did was stupid, but because its less talked about (its not, check any real MMA site) it makes what Lesnar did less terrible? Not exactly...
Some people need to stick to wrestling and not bandwagon MMA just because BROCK LESNAR~!@ is in it.

I think Lesnar was being a cock, but jeez, if I had a dollar for every time a fighter acted like that, I could buy the UFC. Brock Lesnar proved he can fight in the UFC. He's not in the WWE. He's being himself. LEave it at that, quit saying he needs to "F-5" people or you'd never see this in the WWE.
