Hahaha.. Ray Mercer is 48-years old and hasn't beaten a legitmate heavyweight in years. There is no defending this. Sylvia had a bit of a luck streak (Arlovski is known for his weak chin) but that's about it. what legacy?
And I have to laugh because just a couple weeks ago people on this site were saying Sylvia is better than Barnett and was a legitimate opponent for Fedor. Bullshit.
I didn't think Sylvia was a legitimate opponent for Fedor...but not many people are.
Sylvia's always used his size to keep other people at a distance in the UFC and now we know why. He apparently has a pretty weak chin. Even Arlovski almost knocked him out once.

So it's okay for AA to get knocked out but when Sylvia gets caught after 10 seconds that makes him a bad fighter?
Right...

What are you talking about? I never touted Arlovski. I mentioned him because he is one of the men whom Sylvia made his name on. Rogers disposed of Arlovski in embarrassing fashion and I LOL'd big time.
People forget that when Arlvoski and Sylvia were trading wins, the UFC heavyweight division was pretty weak..
This all comes back to Fedor. I realize he's the best in the world, his legacy speaks for itself, but he still hasn't fought anyone in a minute.. Barnett will be his first true test in forever, though I expect Fedor to be the victor.

To be fair, Sylvia and Arlovski were both ranked in the top 5 Heavyweights in MMA when Fedor beat them.

No I mean that many people including me see that you cannot judge a fighter after getting caught so quickly, if the fight had gone on and Sylvia had more chance... then got caught then fine, but what could he do in 10 seconds?
There was no performance to judge because it wasn't a fight it was just a knockout, nothing more.

That's part of fighting.. 'getting caught' ..and it takes skill to avoid it, and when a lot of people do get caught they are still able to come out of it and regroup. Sylvia has poor form..there's no defending being knocked out by a 48-year old has been and Arlovski's chin is laughable. There's no defending these fights anyway you try to spin it. Sorry they looked so weak and have made laughing stocks out of themselves. I know it must burn your soul.
Dak.. rankings are subjective.. they are often based on name and where they've made that name. Arlovski and Sylvia made their name in the UFC when the heavyweight division was weak. There's no denying that.
To be honest, Sylvia is way overrated and always has been. 'And the punch is the last thing to go for a boxer so basically a washed up Sylvia got hit on the chin by a former champion boxer and he went lights out. Embarrassing? Yes. Surprising for Sylvia? Nope.

Machida successfully defending the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with his face.

It is true the Heavyweight division was weak at the time. Rankings are not always based on name and where they made their name. Sherdog is a pretty un-biased site and they were both ranked high there at the time.
The heavyweight division is weak overall now. It is going to be very difficult to find anyone on Fedor's caliber for him to face. It would be very arguable if Brock Lesnar would even be adequate competition for Fedor.
At this point anyone Fedor faces is going to be looked at that way.
