In what can only be described as the biggest female fight in MMA history, Gina Carano will take on Cyborg Santos at a Strikeforce event to be held on Aug. 15 in San Jose, CA.

The news was announced this evening in between fights at Strikeforce: "Lawler vs. Shields". It's unknown at this time what weight the fight will take place at, but both fighters have had difficulty making 140-pounds in the past, so it's possible that the fight will be moved to a higher weight.

Strikeforce's currently unnamed Aug. 15 event will also feature a lightweight title fight rematch between Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson and top contender Gilbert Melendez.
For those who even care, this is a fight between the best two women fighters in the world.

Well the way I see it is that no matter how this fight ends and which fighter wins the fight, this wont be the last meeting we see of the two, I think they will fight 2 or 3 times over time.
