There are rumors going around now that the UFC has a potential 5 year sponsorship deal with Pepsi. Which would be crazy for the sport.
Not necessarily. It would be crazy for the UFC, not the sport as a whole. And it doesn't even necessarily mean anything for the fighters unless it means they see bigger contracts on average. I think Pepsi sponsoring the UFC would show that the level of mainstream acceptance for the entire sport of MMA has drastically increased. Sure it only puts money directly into the pockets of the UFC, but is good for the entire sport's image.

It would be another step forward in that regard, but not a drastic one. Getting sponsors like Harley Davidson and Bud Light was a step in that direction already. I realize Pepsi is even more mainstream yet, but I don't know that its that much of a major step forward. More than anything else, I think it shows the mainstream acceptance of the UFC brand.

That really depends on the deal thats been signed, if one has been signed that is. Pepsi could be putting fighters on the cans and bottles, in which case, those featured would be getting big money deals, which would be awesome for them.
