For the longest time Barnett has been considered one of the top HW in the world. Im not 100% sure, but I think right now he is rated 2nd behind only Fedor of course. This is going to be one hell of a war and I'm expecting it to go to decision.

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
Takanori Gomi (30-5) will continue on his comeback trail when he faces Rafaelllo Oliveira (8-1) at Affliction: “Trilogy” on Aug. 1 in Anaheim.
Last month, Gomi was in talks to face Brett Cooper at the promotion’s third MMA event, but parties could not come to an agreement on compensation or the bout’s contested weight.
Affliction remained in talks with the Japanese star, and last Sunday, Vice President Tom Atencio confirmed to MMAWeekly that a deal was nearly finalized. The bout will be Gomi’s third on US soil.
In May, Gomi posted a KO victory over Takashi Nakakura for Shooto, his first victory since a two-fight slide in Sengoku. Once regarded as the most dominant lightweight in the world, the losses removed him from most top-ten lists.
Oliveira last appeared in April at Xtreme Fighting Champions, besting John Mahlow by unanimous decision. The Knoxville, Tenn. resident made a sole appearance on EliteXC’s challenger series last October, losing to prospect Lyle Beerbohm by TKO.
this card is looking better and better.

Really? Everyone just gave you numerous reasons. Who else has been on top of their division for 6 years, never legitimately lost, and made some of the best in the world look like nothing?
I like to see things, rather than read them, so telling me Fedor's good, just cos I said "I don't see it" doesn't help me... Having said that however, people have suggested fight I check out (which I have) and have posted videos (which I've watched) and I have to say that my opinion is being changed... I obviously wasn't watching the right YouTube videos before. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I still say watch Nog vs Fedor 1 when Fedor was considered a nobody and Nog was considered the man that would reign forever and watch just complete and utter domination.
I don't know if it's Fedor/Nog I or not, but I'm watching the fight from the Pride GP in '04, with Fedor's head getting split open and a ton of time wasting with doctors and stuff. Before the cut though, the transitions between the pair were beautiful. Like water fighting air. Watching Fedor fighting Nog (in what I'm assuming was his prime) is stunning. It ending because of a cut is a little irritating to say the least.
I'm going to suggest you go watch Fedor vs Randleman. And then tell me there is nothing special about the man winning after being slammed on his neck and head. Then again, broken necks only slow down humans, they don't hurt left over soviet robots.
This was amazing. I think you're probably right. They shouldn't let Fedor fight cos he's not fucking human. It's ridiculous.

You were watching the second fight between Nog and Fedor. The fight Suffy is talking about took place at Pride 25.

Fedor-Nogueira happened three times. The one with the cut is the second one and obviously the unexciting one. The first one is the best in my opinion. Below is a link to he first part of that fight...
However, I think that fight is a bit more amazing if you consider the context. At the point of that fight, Nog was the clear #1 heavyweight in the world. He was a submission machine. He took down all the top HWs in Pride, including an underrated fight with Dan Henderson (despite the size difference). Fedor was still relatively unknown, with two impressive wins in Pride. Still, a lot of people felt he didn't deserve a title shot yet. Fedor's only chance to win had to be keep the fight standing, as you simply did not try to go to ground with Nogueira. But Fedor did so willingly. He fought Nog's fight. He spent almost the entire fight in Nog's guard and he simply powered out of every submission attempt. What he did was unleash a ground fury never really seen before. Fedor has a way of unleashing a punch off his hip with amazing power and accuracy that no one else can match, and he does it time and again in this fight. The punches where Fedor postures up and basically leaps at Nog are epic (the 2:45 mark of the fight vid). It was a defining fight in so many ways. Its where Fedor's legacy was born, where he established himself as the best heavyweight and one of the best fighters in the world.

I forgot how loud PRIDE crowds could get. lol. Ridiculous. I believe one of the PRIDE events still holds the record for the highest attendance rate in MMA history.

I did see a kind of highlight reel of Fedor/Nog I a little earlier, but I will give these videos a watch now as well. My opinion is fast being changed today, but I still have to say that of his most recent fights I'm still to be impressed, because (simply put) I don't feel he's fighting the best of the best. That's likely because I'm a complete UFC mark though. Haha!! I want to see him fight Courture and Lesnar. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater.
