"After my contract with the UFC ends and end my career in MMA, I intend to have a boxing match with Roy Jones. That’s something that’s already been arranged, it’s all practically a done deal. Now I just have to wait and see."
UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva seems to be merely biding his time until the completion of his UFC contract to finally test himself in the world of professional boxing. “The Spider” first mentioned his interest in the sweet science after he dispatched of Dan Henderson at UFC 82: “Pride of a Champion” in March 2008. And there is perhaps no boxer who has accomplished more in the sport in the past decade and a half than Jones Jr., although he could be considered past his prime despite winning four of his last five bouts. Is Anderson getting too big for his britches? Or does he have the stuff to hang with the boxing legend?
So... I haven't been keeping up, is he going to retire from MMA when his current UFC contract expires?

Yes, sadly. He says he has done all there is to do in MMA...which is just stupid to say. I love to watch him in the octagon, so I will most def miss him. Roy is past his prime, and who knows how much experience Silva has in actual boxing. It could be a good fight, or it could be just a horrible beat down for Silva/Roy.

From what I saw I was very impressed with Silva, but really......Roy Jones Jr. was past his prime 5 years ago.
I wonder how well the transition will be for Silva. I can see himself having to stop himself from going for takedowns and shit. That split second he overthinks it is when he gets laid out.
Sounds like a guy getting too big for his britches for sure.......but the more knowledgable guys here will know better than I since I don't follow the MMA sport much.

Re: Anderson Silva: Roy Jones Jr. boxing match practically a done deal
He will train for a long time before the fight actually happens to try his best to lose the mma reflex but I totally get what you mean. For a guy like Silva MMA is a way of life and he will do things without thinking and when he has to make himself think to not do it... bang.
Hopefully that doesn't happen though, Silva will get the best guys possible to train him before the fight.
