A fight hardcore fans have been waiting for years to see, will finally take place. MMA Weekly reported that Randy Couture will clash with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in August at UFC 101. Both of these guys are coming off brutal defeats as Nogueira was stopped in the 1st round by Mir, first time in his career by the way, and Randy Couture was KO'd by Big Brock Lesnar in the 2nd round. Winner of this fight, will likely get back in the Title picture.
On June 13, the UFC will finally debut in Germany. UFC 99 will take place in Colon and it will be headlined by a 195 lbs Catchweight bout between former Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin and former Pride Lightweight Champion Wanderley Silva.
Also on this night, Mike Swick and Ben Saunders have agreed to face each other. Both are coming off impressive victories as Quick Swick KO'd Goulet early in the first and Ben Saunders destroyed Brendon Wolf with furious knees to the head. This will most likely be Fight of theNight in my opinion.
Joe Lauzon, who is coming off a brilliant win over Jeremy Stevens, is going to be sidelined for 12-14 months as he will have to repair a torn ACL.
WEC Featherweight Champion Mike Brown could defend his belt against the man he took it from, Urijah Faber in the first ever WEC PPV in Sacramento.

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
Figured they would have to push for the Nogueira-Couture fight. If its the same Nog that fought Mir, this is a pretty easy win for Randy. If (as I hope) it really was an injury that made Nog look like ass, I'd put my money on him by a very slim margin.
Wanderlei-Franklin should be interesting. Its too bad Silva can't or won't make 185 to really make the fight count.
Knew that Faber wouldn't take long to get his rematch. I'd probably put my money down on Brown at this point, though.

Actually i think it's Franklin who can't make 185 anymore, He walks around at like 215 now so that's why their doing the catchweight bout so they can easily move wanderlei down to 185

I never bet against Randy. I still think that in a rematch he could take Brock. Nogueira is great, but all those wars he fought inside that ring are cathing up to him.

Wanderley at 185 should be exciting. I still don't think this move wil restart his career, but it wouldn't surprise me either if it did.

That would make more sense.
I still don't think that 205 is the best weight class for Franklin, but it looks like that's where he'll stay after this fight.

Finally Matt Serra and Matt Hughes will settle their differences inside the octagon. The two have agreed to fight on UFC 98 that will take place on May 23/09. I am seriously hyped about this fight, I've been waiting for this since the Ultimate Fighter. My money is on Matt Hughes here.
Josh Neer and Kurt Pellegrino are going to square off at UFC 101. This could easily be the Fight of the Night. Both of these guys are fire crackers and their chin are made of steel. Kurt Pellegrino is one of my faves and I think he'll take this one.
Anderson Silva has said in a recent interview with Gracimag, that a boxing fight with Roy Jones JR is as good as done...after he retires from MMA he will take on the former pound for pound greatest boxer on the planet!
This is an actual quote from Lyoto Machida in one of his recent interviews:
“My father [drinks his own urine] for a long time and bring it to us. People think it’s a joke (laughs). I never said it in the United States because I don’t know how the fans will react (laughs). I drink my urine every morning like a natural medicine.”
Something should just be left unsaid imo. I don't think there's anything wrong with it I guess, but people just are not to take it easy on him.

Not even news so much as just a random comment about MMA.... A good friend of mine fought in Quebec last night. Lost, unfortunately, but the W1 show did make the front page of Sherdog. Kinda cool. The write-up mentions the fight. My friend is Sean Quinn.

Too bad your buddy lost, he almost had it it seems.
Had a chance to talk to him today. After he dropped Morvin with the right, he laid into Morvin's legs with some kicks. The he made a stupid mistake by getting into Morvin's guard. A few of the kicks he threw while Morvin was in the butt-scoot were shin-on-shin and shin-on-knee, so he's having a bit of trouble walking at this point, but says he didn't feel a thing during the fight. He did well enough that the promotion definitely wants him back.
Kinda interseting - the fight was referred by Yves Lavigne. He also ended up cutting weight with Carlos Newton, who was the headliner on the card.

Here's the Sherdog photos from the fight my friend had on the weekend.
Something I found interesting. He was cutting weight with Carlos Newton, who fights at 170, and Newton apparently walks around at 220 before he starts the weight cut process. I thought Quinn was crazy for being at 162 and having to get down to 135. Its because of weight differences like those that I keep saying Torres would be undersized to move up to 155, etc.
