Diego Sanchez moved down to Lightweight and beat Joe Stevenson. Joe Stevenson is not the best lightweight, but he's up there and for Diego, that's a very good win.
So, who should he face next? Personally I would love to see him face Sean Sherk. I'm not a fan of Sherk, but he is tough and maybe the number 3 fighter in LW Division, behind only Kenny and Penn. If Diego beats Sherk, then he is definitely for real.
Another great fight would be against Gray Maynard. Gray is an amazing wrestler and is as strong as they come. Diego would have to use his superior standing to beat him, because even tho Diego is great on the ground, against Maynard he would get dominated.

Do you have a reason not to give The Half Boy your vote for the Hall of Fame?
It's already reported he's got Guida in July on fight night.
I didnt know that...that's actually a great fight. Clay is gonna be tough, but a better match up for him imo. Clay's stand up is decent, but nothing like Diego's. If Sanchez can keep standing (he has a great sprawl), Clay would in a world of trouble.

I got Diego taking it, lately Clay has been living off lay and pray and I just can't see him taking Diego down, like you said Diego has better striking. It's going to play out very similar to Joe Stevenson vs Diego with just more takedown attempts and less playing to the crowd.

I'm not disappointed that Diego is taking on Clay, but I still think a fight with Sean Sherk would have made more sense.
I just checked and Sherk is facing Frankie Edgar in May. I guess if Sherk beats Edgar and Sanchez beats Guida, we might see them fight each other, with the winner getting a Title shot.

I would like to see Diego face Sherk, it would be very close, I would hope Diego comes out on top and faces Florian in a rematch.
Thats a match the all world would like to see. The first time they fought, Diego completely dominated, but that was then and this is now. Kenny has improved a ton and in this weight class he would be the favourite imo. Last time, they fought at 185 and he was way too small for Diego.

You can't really constitute takedown defense as amazing when the opponent was Stevenson, the man isn't known for his takedowns, he's known for his sick guillotine and good jitz game but takedowns...no he's not known for that.

Should be an interesting fight, I see Diego winning the fight on his feet and using his takedown defense and sprawl to keep Clay's wrestling at bay. Even if Clay does take Diego down he has to worry about his jiu jitsu game. If Diego wins the fight I would love to see him face Florian over Sherk, but both match ups would be great.
