I just checked wikipedia to see when Werdum's next fight was gonna be, and it says that the UFC released Werdum following his loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC-90.
WTF is that all about. Since joining the UFC a couple of years ago, he has beaten Gonzaga and Brandon Vera. He did lose to Andrei Arlovski, but it was a very close fight (a boring fight, but close non the less). Yeah, he got knocked out by Dos Santos, but why release him? He got caught, everyone gets caught.
We are always complaining about the lack of Heavyweights in the UFC and still the UFC releases one of their best fighters from that division. Maybe there's another reason why they relased him, but if it is because he just lost to Dos Santos, then that's complete bs in my opinion.

Never did hear exactly what the reasoning behind it was. I think he only had one or two fights left on his contract and they were trying to extent the deal, but I could be wrong. Heard there was a good chance of him returning, but haven't seen anything yet. He's still not listed on UFC.com.

I doubt Affliction would snub Werdum...he is one of the best heavyweights at the moment.
