Randy Couture is 45 years old and at the end of his career. Whats next for him. I personally would love to still see him fight. He still looks in great shape and the fans still love him.
A match against Big Nog would be a dream match for all the MMA fans. Two of the greatest Heavyweights ever and both masters at what they do. Nogueira is a master at BJJ and Randy is a great collegiate wrestler. The winner could even get a Title shot at Heavyweight Champion.
A match against Mark Coleman would also be exciting. Coleman would clearly be the underdog in this one in my opinion, but who really knows. I know Coleman is an awesome wrestler, but he looks just way older than Couture, even tho Randy is actually one year older than him. Also they are both Hall of Famers and every UFC fans love these guys.
Or maybe he could drop down weight class and fight Wanderley Silva. I dont think Silva has many fights left in him and thats why I would love for him to go by fighting a legend like Couture. Again, I think Couture is the favourite here, even tho Silva has really heavy gloves and can knock anyone at anytime.
My personal favourite, would be a rematch against Brock Lesnar. I think their last match was closer than people think. Couture even took Lesnar down and swiped him once. He just got caught by a nice punch...it also didnt help that the punch hit him in that back of his head. I really think Couture would win that fight if they fought again.
I know this fight will never happen now, but I would have loved to see him fight Fedor Emelianenko. Two of the greatest ever and the most loved fighters as well.
Finally, maybe he should just retire. Go out on top basically.

Couture is in a bit of a tough spot for the UFC right now. Despite his age, he still looks the part of a very solid fighter. Maybe not a top one anymore, but still a very solid one. And he carries a lot of name value. He's a guy they can still use to headline pay per views... for the moment...
The most logical fight is against Nogueira. Its a money fight that they can hype heavily and can use to headline a PPV. Two former champions, two all-time greats. The real problem is that both are coming off decisive losses. So whoever loses between Couture and Nogueira is put in a tough spot. The UFC has basically created an environment where the only thing that matters, where fans are made to believe that consecutive losses can essentially invalidate a fighter. Its debatable whether thats a product of the way the UFC hypes fights or simply the nature of American sports fans, but either way, its a stark contrast to the Japanese ideology, where exciting fights count more than wins and losses. That's a whole different debate, though.
Now I get the feeling that the UFC brass wouldn't be too heart-broken if Nogueira loses another fight and basically can't be pushed as a top HW for awhile, if ever again. He's on a hefty contract, which would hurt if the UFC basically uses him as a mid-card fighter. Whether the staph infection rumors are true or not, the bad loss to Mir basically killed any positive momentum that Nogueira had coming out of the season on TUF. The biggest problem with a Nogueira-Couture fight is what happens to Couture if he loses decisively?
There are other possible fights in the UFC for Couture, but none are as enticing as Couture-Nogueira. A Couture-Lesnar rematch if Lesnar beats Mir is certainly possible, but most people would like to see Couture notch a win before that. Or Couture-Mir if Mir wins against Lesnar. I'm not big on a Couture-Wanderlei fight at this point, because the UFC version of Wanderlei really looks like he's better suited to 185 and not as much 205. That would've been a dream superfight about four years ago, but not so much now.
The next step is really going to depend on what the UFC wants to do with Couture in the near future, I believe. If they want to get all the can out of him as soon as possible, then a Couture-Nogueira fight is most likely. That's what was being lined up, I believe, before Couture had to take some time off for an elbow injury. If they really want to try to keep him as a top star for the forseeable future, then he might fight someone "lesser" than Big Nog.
logical is a match against Nogueira, if he wins that one you maybe can give him a re-match against Brock Lesnar. but maybe it would be better for him to drop a weightclass and there have a few more matches.
Lesnar VS. Couture isn't an immediate possibility although it's the fight I'd want to see the most. That fight really was much closer than people made it out to be as Fedor said. Randy was actually winning the 2nd round until Lesnar threw his lunchbox of a hand at Couture and it landed. Otherwise, I saw Randy controlling Lesnar and wearing him out. There was definitely a look of desperation in Brock's face as Randy was controlling him and bloodied him up. I think a second go around and Couture could beat him.
The most logical fight is indeed against Noguiera but it's risky for the UFC, putting two legendary fighters against each other with both coming off losses. Also, Couture turned down a fight with Big Nog.
I doubt Wandy VS. Randy would happen because the two train quite often with each other and Wandy's ready to drop down to 185.
I think Randy needs to stay at Heavyweight. The speed of the LHW's might give him some trouble. In terms of what Couture should do, ideally, fight FEDOR damn it! But that's not really possibility.
So within the realm of possibility, what should Couture do? Fight Mark Coleman.
UFC 100. Two UFC Hall of Famers facing each other. Now that's special. Couture is much more of a draw than Coleman and has a much better chance at winning this fight. It's the safe bet for Randy and sets him up with a potential match with Nog and then possibly Lesnar/Mir. Hell, even after beating Coleman, he can retire. That's a better way to go out, than a loss to Lesnar.

You know, I really like the idea of having 2 Hall of Famers go at it at their 100th Anniversary show. The only problem I see with this fight, is that no one out there would believe Coleman stood any chance against Couture.
