CHIKARA: An Introduction.

Welcome To Chikara:
*throughout the post, if something is underlined, that means you can click it to see a video. Also, try clicking the roster pictures!*
CHIKARA Wrestle Factory was founded as a wrestling school in Allentown, Pennsylvania by Mike Quackenbush and "Reckless Youth" Tom Carter. After five months, the school started CHIKARA.

CHIKARA typically runs 2 shows a month. They're annual shows/events are:
King Of Trios- A trios tournament.
Young Lions Cup- A yearly tournament to decide the Young Lions Cup Champion.
Anniversario- The anniversary show.
Torneo Cibernetico- The match itself occurs on a show yearly.

CHIKARA only has two "championships". The Young Lions Cup, and the Campeonatos De Parejas.

The Young Lions Cup is for wrestlers who are 25 years old or younger. The winner of the Young Lions Cup tournament can defend the cup as an actual title until the following tournament.
The first Young Lions Cup champion was Hallowicked.
Hallowicked def. Mr. ZERO- YLC Tournament Finals
Larry Sweeney def. Jigsaw- YLC II Tournament Finals
Jigsaw def. Larry Sweeney- Fear Of Music
Shane Storm def. Icarus- YLC III Tournament Finals
Arik Cannon def. Cheech- YLC IV Tournament Finals
Max Boyer def. Arik Cannon- Cibernetico Forever
Chuck Taylor def. Ricochet- YLC V Tournament Finals
Helios def. Chuck Taylor- New Star Navigation
Fire Ant def. Vin Gerard- YLC VI Tournament Finals
Vin Gerard def. Fire Ant- Tragedy and Triumph
Equinox def. Vin Gerard- Revelation X
Equinox is the current Young Lions Cup Champion.

The Campeonatos De Parejas are the CHIKARA tag team titles. A team becomes eligible to challenge for the Campeonatos de Parejas as soon as they earn 3 points. Teams rack up points by winning tag team matches, as soon as they get the 3 points, they can challenge the reigning Campeones for the titles. However, if they lose a match the team loses all of their points and must start again. All Campeonatos De Parejas matches are 2 out of 3 falls.
The first Campeones De Parejas were The Kings Of Wrestling(Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli)
The Kings Of Wrestling def. Milano Collection AT and Skayde- Tag World Grand Prix 2006 Tournament Finals
F.I.S.T.(Icarus and Gran Akuma) def. The Kings Of Wrestling- Brick

Current major storyline of the 2009 season:
The Eye of Tyr is a currently unidentified aspect of the CHIKARA Special storyline that has dominated CHIKARA since November 2007. While as of yet the specific details are unknown, Hydra was the first wrestler to mention it in an interview. Before the Sea Donsters vs. Order of the Neo-Solar Temple match on December 12th 2008 at “Face With a View”, Sea Donsters member Tim Donst questioned why UltraMantis Black needed to know the secret of the move’s counter in the first place. However, Hydra explained – in his own way – that he did in fact know the reason for Mantis’ interest. After failing to get his message across in verbal form, Hydra wrote something on a piece of paper, which Donst seemed confused by, stating he had no idea what it meant. The two walked off to have their match and Hydra dropped the paper, which the camera zoomed in on to show the words “EYE OF TYR”.

On the December 14 “Duel & Duality” show, UltraMantis alluded to the fact that Dr. Cube may have also at one point possessed this “Eye of Tyr”, implying that he had to make some sacrifices to get what he wanted from the Kaiju villain. Mantis claimed that both Donst and Hydra were pawns in his game, bringing up the November 2007 match between Shane Storm and Hydra where Mantis seemingly helped Storm to defeat his then-friend.

The earlier Cube reference played into the next Tyr-related incident, as on January 25th 2009 Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw wrestled Mantis and Crossbones. During the match, Quackenbush demanded that Mantis tell him what Cube wanted with “it” (presumably this Eye of Tyr). Mantis finally responded that “Saget was behind it”, bringing up the former CHIKARA Commissioner and star of Full House, Bob Saget, who was ousted from his position months prior and replaced by Dave Coulier.

Many theories have already arisen about the Eye of Tyr. One lead spotted by fans was from a website for an organisation named the “ISSRPA“, whose website was advertised on CHIKARAPro.com. On this website there was much information regarding this “Eye of Tyr”:

The Eye, whose exact origins are still unknown, was believed to give unique powers to only those who possessed it. These powers, said to have been given as a gift from Tyr himself, allowed the holder to “control” another individual simply by touching the stone to the forehead (hence, “the third eye”). The translated journals of several Norse explorers, merchants, and pirates, however, also suggest that unless the Eye is given away upon use or if it is obtained through theft or other nefarious means, the holder will be befallen by bad luck or tragedy

On April 26th 2009 the Order of the Neo-Solar Temple kidnapped Incoherence member Delirious in an incident clearly linked to their need for a third member. People’s worst suspicions were confirmed on May 23rd when Delirious was accompanied to the ring by UltraMantis Black and Crossbones for a match with Arik Cannon. Under the control of the Eye of Tyr, Delirious began acting like a rudo, wearing the black and white of the Order and he even won the match with Mantis’ signature Praying Mantis Bomb. This show marked the first time that Mantis had actually worn the Eye around his neck, using it to control Delirious.

Must see matches of 2009 so far:

First of all, knock off the condescending tone.
Secondly, yes, I do, but that CLEARLY wasn't the point of your original statement.

Re: CHIKARA: An Introduction.

I don't watch much of anything out of the WWE...well, I only really watch Raw. I don't think it's fair to call someone a jobber who is wrestling in their own promotion. They might be a jobber out of it, but inside their respective promotion they might be the top dog in it, which would make them not a jobber.

Re: CHIKARA: An Introduction.

I've only been getting into CHIKARA for the past few months. Young Lions Cup was the first full show i watched. Current favourites are Vin Gerard, Hydra and FIST. The best thing for me when watching CHIKARA is that they dont take everything uber serious and actually have fun performing. The only downside is i cant figure out why they dont have any singles championships other than the YLC.

Also, at La Lotrtia Letal i was hoping Olsen and Delaney would end up paired together. They didnt but Delaney and Gerard ended up as an acceptable subsitute in my eyes.
