Was randomly thinking about this after wathing some of the latest NOAH show, thought I might as well make a thread on it. Basically, now that KENTA has returned to ROH and will be wrestling there semi-frequently, what matches do you want to see him in in ROH?

At first I thought there was nothing I wanted to see, mostly because he's already faced the top guys and because some of the roster is pretty iffy, but there are some matches I'd like to see. Dragon vs KENTA V could be good, though Dragon winning would obviously be the desired result. Wouldn't mind seeing him vs Stevens either. That would be great as long as they avoid the indy dream-match formula and just beat each other up. KENTA vs Steen might be the top of my list just because like the Ki match they are both guys who can flat-out go balls to the ball and beat the fuck out of people. KENTA vs Black would be interesting but I imagine it would turn out pretty awful unless they make it 20 minutes of KENTA destroying Black. KENTA vs Titus could also be an amazing squash.

KENTA vs Jobber - One of my wrestling fantasies is to see KENTA kick someone in the face repeatedly until their covered in blood. Unlikely, seeing as he's not usually a heel, but I'd love to see it happen. Preferably if it's Sugarfoot.

vs Kenny Omega - I'd like to see what Omega would be like in a match where he's not required to be flashy, like he usually is. I think this could turn out well and have a good underdog situation here.

vs Bryan Danielson - You're right, Dragon winning would be the desired result, because I think it's just terrible that he's only won one of their matches together. Of course, this likely won't happen while KENTA still has the GHC Jr. belt.

vs Davey Richards - I'm sure that later in the year, Davey's singles push would have gone into more effect, so him getting the win over his teacher (or whatever you call the opposite of a protege) would solidify him as a real threat to the main event scene. Plus, there's not much wrong with a rematch of a MOTYC.

vs Tyler Black - Could be hit or miss. I can't see KENTA gladly taking Tyler's predictable combos. I can imagine him standing up after dodging the Quebrada/SSP and kicking him in the face.

vs El Generico - Could be good. I'd rather see versus Steen, but Generico's selling of the kicks should be something great. Generico always shines as the underdog and KENTA's at his best just kicking ass.

vs Austin Aries - I never saw their first match, but I'm sure it'd be totally different with Aries' A-Double gimmick. I don't think he's been in a big singles match situation lately either.


I wonder if anyone will say Jerry Lynn.

I was thinking Aries but his style and character back when they first faced was very close to how it is now, only now he is more heel-ish. The first match had one or two nice spots and sequences but otherwise it was your by-the-numbers dream match with both men just running through their trademark spots to a "this is awesome" chant. I wouldn't mind them having another match if they avoid doing that kinda stuff. I imagine heel Aries's sell of the kicks would be awesome.

As long as he doesn't do that terrible thing where he somehow falls out the ring and his legs get caught in the ropes. That's just cringe-worthy. I love everything else about him, though.

I would watch KENTA against almost anyone. Danielson would be good, and a rematch against Richards would definitely be worthwhile.

So it turns out we're getting KENTA/Steenerico vs Wolves/Hero. On a regular show, this could be something spectacular, but I think this still has a chance to be great on an HDNet show, given the time and, hopefully, the atmosphere. Also, Davey and KENTA in the same ring again. Perhaps building to a rematch? I'd love to see Davey go over and solidify himself as a serious threat. Unless you count Steen, I don't know if he's had any big singles wins yet.
