ROH Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Asked for and now received. I'll be updating this regularly, but feel free to post them yourselves in here if you come across these before I do. Don't make separate threads for these unless you want to draw attention to a particular subject. That means copypasting something like Lance Storm's return from a Newswire and making it a thread of it's own, because it's something important, is fine. Posting a Newswire in it's own thread just for the sake of posting a Newswire is not, and will just be merged here.

So people don't have to go looking for these themselves, maybe some folk will find it easier to follow ROH. Oh, and of course discussion would be cool too.

May 11th: As announced this morning on the main page, Lance Storm is making his return to Ring of Honor (ROH Wrestling)! He will wrestle during both events when ROH returns to Toronto on July 24th and 25th! ROH officials are working diligently to find two matches that will showcase Storm’s incredible talents. Tickets are on sale now for these events at ROH Wrestling, and they will be known as “Death Before Dishonor VII: Legends Edition”! Don’t miss out on this historic weekend that already includes appearances by Bret “Hitman” Hart and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

May 11th: One of our biggest sales to ever take place at ROHWrestling.com is back. You can now save 35-40% Off Your Next Order. Don't delay as time is running out. Full details on the sale, along with the discount codes can be found here: ROH Wrestling.

May 11th: The Super Smash Brothers made a great impression on both the ROH fans and officials in both Boston and Edison; receiving “Please come back” chants from the ROH faithful. We are pleased to announce that they indeed will come back – and as part of Death Before Dishonor VII! They will be in action on July 24th and 25th in Toronto!

May 11th: HDNet cameras were in the house last Friday night in Boston, filming for several upcoming commercials as well as the first installments of “the Art of Pro Wrestling”, with your host, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana! Coming soon to ROH on HDNet!

May 11th: Sonjay Dutt did not disappoint in Boston or Edison either. The charismatic veteran had two excellent showings despite coming up short on both nights, and to that end, has been added to the two big events on June 12th in Manassas and June 13th in New York City! Don’t forget that ROH Ambassador Ric Flair will also be in attendance on both nights! We’ll have Dutt’s opponents soon right here in the Newswire!

May 11th: Claudio Castagnoli and his associates in The Embassy certainly haven’t made any friends, and you can now add the Necro Butcher to their list of enemies after this past weekend. It seemed that Jimmy Rave was most disgusted by him. He took every opportunity to insult Necro by repeatedly spitting in his face. And while it was obvious to everyone that Jimmy wanted no part of Necro physically, he threw the first “punch” with his disgusting display. We’ll have more on this as it develops.

May 11th: Also announced this morning is the second of 6 main events that will take place when HDNet crews return to Philadelphia on May 29th and 30th to film 6 more weeks of “Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet”. The main page article says it all (ROH Wrestling), it will be Roderick Strong versus Jay Briscoe in Philly! Jay came within eyelashes of winning the ROH World Title in Edison, and Roddy has been on fire since returning from Pro Wrestling NOAH. Friendly rivalries are great, but this one has been off the hook! Fans in St. Louis and Markham, Ontario can attest – you don’t want to miss this one! Plus, KENTA and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair! Tickets are on sale now!

May 11th: Just released and in stock is "Steel City Clash" from Elizabeth, PA from March 20th. This event features GHC Jr. Champion KENTA & El Generico vs. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Davey Richards; Tyler Black & Necro Butcher vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Brodie Lee in a Falls Count Anywhere Match; Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries; Bryan Danielson vs. Mike Quackenbush; plus more. To order this DVD click here: ROH Wrestling.

May 11th: Could a new look for rohwrestling.com be in store soon? Keep your eyes peeled!

Good to see they are making a big deal out of the "legends" show. Hopefully it pays off and they get a nice return on it all.

Ugh, Dutt is returning and even bigger UGH at Necro being added to the Embassy fued. Are they actually going to do anything with the guy other than stick him in ever faction fued available?

Not really interested Strong vs Jay or KENTA, tbh.

Roderick vs KENTA just got announced today, that arouse your interest?

I don't see any good matches coming out of Necro going against the Embassy. Is his feud with Jimmy even over yet? I don't recall any blowoff.

I'm sure they did have a blow-off at the Take No Prisoner PPV tapings.

Wasn't keen the first Strong vs KENTA match, less interested in seeing a watered down TV version. If the Lynn match is as good as hyped then I would actually have no problem with Strong getting back into the title hunt.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

    Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

May 12th: As announced in this morning’s main page article ROH Wrestling , the second of the 6 main events to be filmed at the next ROH on HDNet National Television tapings is official. On May 29th at the Arena in south Philadelphia, Roderick Strong will face KENTA in singles action! Roddy has been on a roll since returning from Pro Wrestling NOAH, and this will be perhaps his biggest challenge to date. Tickets are on sale for the tapings on May 29th and 30th at ROH Wrestling . Don’t be left out as this match is a potential classic!

May 12th: Prince Nana was very happy with Joey Ryan’s debut in Boston and Edison last weekend. And even though Ryan lost a singles contest to Colt Cabana, Prince Nana believes he is a great asset to the Embassy. “I know these fools like the Boo Boo Cabana think they have an advantage, eh, but they will fall. This is why I will bring the sleaze to Detroit and Chicago. I bring Joey Ryan to show those stinking pigs the power of the Embassy!” Joey Ryan will be in action on June 26th in Detroit and June 27th in Chicago. Don’t forget, ROH Ambassador Ric Flair will also appear. Tickets are on sale now for both events!

May 12th: ROH is also happy to announce that Petey Williams will appear in Detroit on June 26th and Chicago on June 27th. ROH officials are high on his athleticism and look forward to his matches during that doubleshot weekend.

May 12th: Jimmy Jacobs has been obsessed with bringing down Tyler Black. And after the brutal attack on Black with his railroad spike last time in Chicago, it would seem that Jacobs is once again firmly inside Tyler’s head. Since then, ROH officials have told both competitors that the violence cannot go on long term, and that they must settle their differences once and for all. ROH officials have given each man the right to choose a match that they believe will end the feud. Jacobs was first to respond, citing the pleasure he received when seeing the footage of a fallen Tyler, lying in a pool of his own blood while surrounding fans chanted the word “disappointment”. “I know they thought they were shouting that to me,” said Jacobs. “But the eyes of those who will not see are only open to fallacy, and the truth is that Tyler is my biggest disappointment. And I will put an end to that disappointment in New York and he will bleed again as I select a First Blood match.” Tyler Black has yet to respond with the match he has chosen.

May 12th: Signed for ROH’s return to Manassas and New York: ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn, ROH World Tag Team Champions The American Wolves, Kevin Steen, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Colt Cabana, Eddie Kingston (6/13 only), and Roderick Strong. This is in addition to Guido Maritato (6/13 only), The Young Bucks, Sonjay Dutt, and ROH Ambassador “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. We’ll have more matches announced for both events in the next ROH Newswire!

May 12th: Don’t forget to keep up with ROH on Twitter at ROHonHDNet (ROHonHDNet) on Twitter

May 12th: Our gigantic 35-40% Off Sale is up and running until Thursday morning at ROHWrestling.com. Save big on your next order. Full details on the sale, along with the discount codes can be found here: ROH Wrestling .

May 12th: Lance Storm talks about his upcoming in-ring return at Death Before Dishonor VII at StormWrestling.com - Commentary . As announced, he will appear in Toronto on July 24th and 25th, and will be in action on both nights. Don’t forget that Bret Hart will appear on the 24th and Ric Flair on the 25th! Tickets are on sale now!
A First Blood match is kinda cool, but I hope they're not seriously blowing off this feud already. It had potential to be huge and there seems to be a huge lack of story in it.

Very surprised at Pearce booking Petey Williams. I would've thought that an "old-school" booking style would mean no unrealistic finishers.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Pearce's booking is about as "old school" as Star Wars... or something else not very old school. >_> Horray for more useless TNA spotmonkeys?

I have to agree with you on the Tyler/Jacobs fued. It had potential to be epic but they booked their first one-on-one way too soon and the match was the least hate-filled grudge match I've seen this year. From the few matches I have seen them in together it seems as if they actually have pretty poor chemistry together. Jacobs is booked as a really lame duck heel with weird stuff like spiking himself and crying and Black isn't really that good at displaying "hate" in matches. 1st Blood match could be good but for the fued to really become decent they need to have Black become a bigger underdog and face-in-peril, which is hard to do if they are still trying to keep him in the title hunt.

Sonjay: "The greatest junior heavyweight in wrestling today" I hope Sonjay is a heel, because that is stupid as anything.

Holy crap @ Necro/Grizzly comedy team.

    Steen/Davey looks badass.

Atleast the ads for TV look good, and I laughed at Dutt shitting on the the Guru gimmick.

Steen/Davey does look to be another great match under Davey's belt this year. The Wolves/Steenerico feud in general is looking to be fantastic, could turn out to be better than Briscoes/Steenerico.

I really hope this feud gets settled in a Ladder War II. As long as it's not a threeway with the Briscoes, I can see it being better than the first, since it won't be a mindless spotfest.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

    Thursday, May 14th, 2009

May 14th: As announced in yesterday’s main page article at ROH Wrestling, current GHC Junior Champion, KENTA, will appear in Detroit on June 26th and Chicago on June 27th! He is looking forward to showing the fans in the Midwest once again why he is considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the world, and we’ll have his opponents in the coming weeks. Don’t forget, KENTA is also a part of the ROH on HDNet National Television tapings in Philadelphia on May29th and 30th! Tickets for Philadelphia, Detroit, and Chicago are on sale and available now at ROH Wrestling!

May 14th: This week's episode of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" on HDNet will feature an announcement by ROH Ambassador Ric Flair on who will challenge World Champion Jerry Lynn in the first World Title defense on televsion. The TV Main Event will be Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Kenny King & Rhett Titus. Also, Brent Albright vs. Claudio Castagnoli; Jay Briscoe vs. Sami Callihan, The Dark City Fight Club in action plus more. For additional information go to HDNet Original Programming - Ring of Honor Wrestling.

May 14th: El Generico contacted ROH officials this morning after seeing one of his orthopedic surgeons, and the preliminary news is better than expected. Generico will be seeing another surgeon in the coming days for another opinion, and we hope to have a solid announcement early next week as it pertains to Generico’s involvement on upcoming events.

May 14th: Signed for Manassas on June 12th is what promises to be a very hard-hitting singles bout with a grudge. Jay Briscoe will take a break from his ‘friendly competition’ with Roderick Strong to once more battle the force that put his brother out of commission. That force is the American Wolves, and Jay’s target in Manassas is Davey Richards. With Eddie Edwards, Richards has been a machine as of late, but he fell to Kevin Steen in a brutal brawl in Boston, which may have just softened him up a little. Can Briscoe pick up where Steen left off?

May 14th: Have you signed on as a follower of ROH on Twitter? Link up at ROHonHDNet (ROHonHDNet) on Twitter.

May 14th: The May 13th edition of the ROH Videowire is now available for viewing at http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=N_D0EuO9QKg&fmt=18. You will see comments from the Necro Butcher, Bryan Danielson, Jay Briscoe, and Sonjay Dutt, as well as highlights from Boston and Edison, a preview of this weekend’s telecast of Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet, and a look at the new DVD release - “Stylin’ and Profilin’” - featuring the ROH debut of “Nature Boy” Ric Flair!

May 14th: Speaking of Sonjay Dutt, he has signed a pair of interesting singles matches for the Manassas/New York weekend. IN Manassas, he’s going to face off with Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs has been busy trying to hold onto what once was a formidable AOTF army, and most recently, has been obsessed with dismantling Tyler Black. Can the “Original Playa from the Himalaya” score a win over the AOTF magnate one day before his “First Blood” war with Tyler in NYC? Then in Manhattan, Dutt’s task will get no easier as he’s set to face a man that has been the hottest competitor in ROH as of late in Roderick Strong. A win over Strong would certainly make a statement for the charismatic Dutt. Tickets for Manassas and Manhattan are on sale now!

May 14th: Also signed for Manassas, is a grudge affair, as the Embassy may just have bitten off way more than they can chew. At the behest of Prince Nana, Ernie Osiris has picked Grizzly Redwood as his primary target, and the two have been battling in pre-show matches for weeks. Now with the Embassy’s latest attack, which saw Jimmy Rave and Osiris lay the littlest lumberjack out and attempt to cut off his beard, the straw has broken the camel's back. The Necro Butcher came to his rescue, and was also rewarded with a beatdown by the Embassy in Boston. Now Necro is promising to bring a hardcore fight back to Rave and company. In Manassas, we’ll have six-man tag team action as Jimmy Rave and Ernie Osiris of the Embassy will team with their Associate, Claudio Castagnoli, against the Necro Butcher, Grizzly Redwood, and Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana! There is bad blood between all six men, and it could boil over on June 12th!

May 14th: Rumor has it that Guido Maritato is confident that he’ll be making a lasting impression on June 13th in New York. The Sicilian Shooter has stated that he wants to show ROH that he’s capable of hanging with the toughest competition in the company, and is apparently set to make a challenge next week.

May 14th: ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn is set to travel to Puerto Rico this weekend to challenge for IWA Heavyweight Title in a Three Way Dance against El Chicano and Joe Bravo. We’ll have the follow up next week in the Newswire. Could Lynn be a double-champion come Monday? For more information on this great event, please visit IWA : International Wrestling Association : Lucha Libre : Wrestling : WWE : TNA : CMLL : AAA : ROH : NOAH : ECW : NWA : SmackDown! : Raw : WWF : WCW : WWC.

May 14th: Speaking of Lynn, he’ll be involved in the 4th of 6 Television main events to be filmed in Philadelphia on May 29th and 30th! The veteran ROH World Champion has an absolute classic against “that Young Knockout Kid” Chris Hero in Boston last week, and now, they’re set to bring it to National Television in a non-title affair. Hero has been on his own quiet roll as of late, with the help of a brutal elbow strike. If you ask Hero about it, he’ll tell you that the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa has taught him the art of the elbow. If you ask ROH on HDNet play-by-play announcer Mike Hogewood, it’s most assuredly an illegally loaded elbow pad causing the damage. Either way you slice it, one thing is for certain: If he connects that elbow with Jerry Lynn’s jaw in Philly, you can “slap the porpoise” because it’ll be over.

May 14th: Our big 35-40% Off Sale has been extended one final time. You can still take advantage of this offer until Sunday night at 9PM. Don't miss out on this great offer. For complete details on how to save click here: ROH Wrestling
Sonjay got off easy facing Dragon/Edwards and Hero. This time it's certain death at the hands of Roderick.
