Now that ROH has gotten a little experience of TV and now know what to improve on, I think things are going to start picking up for the HDNet shows.
Episode 7
- Crowd seems louder than usual, they must have realised how quiet they were at the first six shows and mic'd them.
- In-ring promos are a good idea and I think this made it more enjoyable. While I'm not sure what an "Ambassador" for ROH is, seeing Flair was fun and Aries was as good as always.
- Thank goodness Hero stopped wearing that ridiculous attire and went back to his less ridiculous attire. Match was on the short side, even for an opener, I felt but was quite fun. The crowd seems less dark now, which is always a good thing, but I don't understand why it needs to look dark in the first place.
- Skipped Necro/Brodie because the version I DL'd had it out of sync quite badly. I don't find the match appealing on paper anyway.
- Nice video promo to hype Aries. This whole show benefitted him more than anyone.
- A repeat of the "Buzz Words" promo of Erick Stevens we saw last week. This is a good idea, but why not use it for somebody else when you can barely display anyone in the hour you have? I would have used it to give some more hype to Roderick, or even for the debut of Generico or Davey.
- Stevens squashes Sal Rinauro. Kind of like the Dempsey squash from last week, but 10 seconds longer.
- Strong/Aries was a dissapointment considering both guys are great. They had enough time to put on a good match, but it just didn't do it for me. It seemed like they went through what they had planned too fast, because they spent the last 5 minutes very slowly going through Strongholds and Stronghold counters before Aries finally hit the Brainbuster. Roderick's debut may be the main event, but I don't think it benefitted him very well. You could tell from his promo earlier that he doesn't have half the personality of Aries, and in this Aries was definitely the more exciting, even hitting some highflying moves.
- Match quality is a step down from last week, but at least they've improved on things like adding in-ring promos, displaying some more of the roster and the crowd.
