I'm having problems stroking text on Gimp. So if someone could get me a tut or explain to me how they do it I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Stroking text.

1. Set your foreground colour, to the colour you want the stroke to be.
2. Alpha to selection your text.
3. Create a new transparent layer, and place it under your text layer.
4. While still on your new layer, Go to Edit> Stroke selection. And give it a one pixel stroke.

Umm, I would like to start making GFXs but i need a free program to work with. Do you guys know any?
