He recently completed a heated feud with The Human Tornado, culminating in Hero capturing the PWG World Championship in a Guerrilla Warfare steel cage match. Hero competed in the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles defeating Necro Butcher in a crazy brawl in the first round, he then defeated Scott Lost in an exciting second round match and in the semi-finals of the tournament Hero was able to defeat tournament favorite Bryan Danielson. In the finals of the tournament Hero was defeated by Low Ki in an intense match which saw Low Ki bust open Hero's nose with a vicious soccer kick early on, the match took place with only the top rope attached as the other ropes had been damaged in the previous match. Hero's belt was not on the line in this tournament thus he is still champion even after suffering a loss, Low Ki is currently the number one contender for the PWG World Championship

Adopting a new gimmick for Hero hasn't necessarily translated into Main Event success in ROH, In PWg he's been in the fold with that feud with him Candice and Tornado but Tornado had to get himself injured for the entire year so that was out the door. Swagger I think is really a talent that has the ability to translate well in terms of talent inside the ring but he needs more time to speak on the microphone and not be pushed straight to the moon as fast. Swagger I think had a better year though than Hero with Swagger making upward strides. Easily a Main eventer I think by late 2010.

While I appreciate this tournament, this match alone shows that 64 entries is too much.
Swagger did his stuff in FCW and eventually debuted in ECW to some success. 2009 could be a huge year for him. But he still isn't nearly worthy to be among the top 50 or so of the year.
Hero on the other hand continues to drop in importance since 2006. He did a few good things, but it was a fairly quiet year for Hero. I'd still give him the nod of having the better year.

Although his gimmick isn't too favoured, Hero's "That Young Knockout Kid" persona, I've found enjoyable. It gets him great heat, though admittedly, it does tend to lower the quality of his matches. I don't understand why he had to drop almost his entire moveset along with the shenanigans and antics. But even though he's in the midcard, I think he was important to ROH in 2008 and I know nothing at all about Jack Swagger.

Jack Swagger as far as I'm concerned. Debuted, went undefeated, is a top name on ECW, and is now the #1 contender for the ECW belt. Hero on the other hand hasn't been too amazing this year and seems to be in the same basic position he was when the year began.

Sorry this Indy newb looks pretty bad, don't know anything about him (I'm using the same sort of attitude Mark and Steve used against Swagger To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. How is it the same attitude? I legitamately have only seen like three matches from Swagger and two of them were squashes. He's been around for like four months and is the #1 contender for a mid-card title.
If it wasn't for Hero having such a lacklustre year, this would be a total squash.
