On April 21, 2008, Regal won the 2008 King of the Ring Tournament, on a special edition of Raw, where he defeated Hornswoggle, Finlay and CM Punk all by submission to win the tournament.[20] On the April 28 edition of Raw, Regal's coronation ceremony as the 2008 King of the Ring was interrupted by the returning Mr. Kennedy. On the May 19, 2008 episode of Raw, Regal lost a Loser Gets Fired match to Mr. Kennedy, after which, Regal was kayfabe forced to leave WWE. In reality, Regal was suspended on May 20, 2008, for sixty days for his second violation of the company’s Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy.[21] On July 28, 2008, Regal returned from his suspension as a "free agent" during an episode of Raw, where he was defeated by then World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk.[22]
Regal has begun a mini-feud with Jamie Noble after Regal interrupted Noble's romantic interest Layla, prompting him to attack Regal.[23] This saw Regal defeat Noble,[24] then lose to Noble on the September 1, 2008 edition of Raw.[25] The following week, the pair continued the program with Regal winning their match and departing with Layla at his side.[26] Regal's feud with Noble escalated on the September 15, 2008 Raw when Layla declared Noble was a loser and she found a man worthy of her in Regal.[27]
[edit] Intercontinental Champion (2008)
On the November 3 episode of Raw, Regal won an over-the-top battle royal to face Santino Marella for the Intercontinental Title. On the November 10 episode of Raw, held in Manchester, England, Regal defeated Marella to win his second Intercontinental Title.[28]

Its tough cause I'm a huge fan of Tornado's work but he didn't do much of anything in 08 while Regal was huge as a GM and brought the Intercontinental Title back to prominence.

Regal wins by default but before the suspension he had a cracking year and with an IC title afterwards he has done alot this year, probably one of his best years in wrestling imo. I thought I hadn't heard alot about Tornado, I hope to see him back next year hopefully the injury dosen't damage him as much as an injury did to Amazing Red.
Maybe it's just me, but I find Regal had one of his worst years in wrestling in 2008. It began good enough with plenty of attention as GM, but once the suspension occurred, he never regained that steam. Sadly, he didn't get to his peak before the suspension either. His IC title reign thus far has been meaningless due to his health condition.
By no means can 2008 compare to any other year where Regal was healthy for the majority of the year.
