At Final Resolution 2008, Roode teamed up with Ms. Brooks in a mixed tag team match against Booker T and his wife Sharmell. After losing the match Roode finally completed his turn on Brooks and as Sharmell ran back into the ring to stop it, Roode turned around and hit her in the jaw, knocking her out. As Booker T ran to the ring to aid his wife, Roode escaped the ring, and looking back at the ring he realized what he had done. The following Impact, Roode faced Brooks and fired her, but was stopped by Jim Cornette when he tried to lay hands on her. Subsequently, Roode's "number one fan" attacked Brooks when she was leaving the ring. Roode's fan would replace Brooks, with her name revealed as Ms. Payton Banks.
After Final Resolution, and with Payton Banks by his side, Roode continued his feud with Booker T at Against All Odds, where the two faced off in a singles match. Roode would run from the ring and escape the arena in a car, only to further infuriate Booker. Booker and Roode would face off again at Destination X in a Stand By Your Man Strap Match, where the loser's manager (Banks for Roode, Brooks for Booker) would receive ten leather lashes from the winner's manager. Roode won after using a handcuff-armed fist, but Sharmell returned and whipped everyone with a leather belt, including Jim Cornette. The following week on Impact!, Cornette punished her by putting her in a mixed tag team match with Booker against Roode and Banks at Lockdown, which Booker and Sharmell won. After the match, Roode verbally abused Banks for losing, much like he used to abuse Ms. Brooks, seemingly ending their alliance.
The Formation of Beer Money Inc
Beer Money Inc in London September 2008On the June 12 edition of Impact, Roode, alongside James Storm, challenged The Latin American Xchange (LAX) for the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Storm and Roode were successful in winning the match with Roode pinning Hernandez following a Last Call from Storm with a belt wrapped around his boot. Hector Guerrero, who was at ringside however, informed the referee about what happened and the match was restarted. LAX ended up retaining the titles following a powerbomb from Hernandez to Storm. Afterwards Roode, along with Storm and Jacqueline, attacked LAX with chairs and belts. The next week LAX challenged Storm and Roode to a Fan's Revenge Lumberjack match at Victory Road on July 13. Roode and Storm then began calling themselves "Beer Money Inc.", sometimes shortened to simply "Beer Money", based on their individual gimmicks (Storm for "Beer" and Roode for "Money"). On the July 3 edition of Impact!, Beer Money lost to both The Motor City Machineguns, and then Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash later that night. The next week on Impact!, Homicide challenged Roode to a Parking Lot Brawl, which he accepted. Although both Storm and Hernandez were meant to be barred from the area, Storm interfered during the brawl, and the two dragged Homicide back into the arena and attacked, but Hernandez made the save. At Victory Road, Beer Money lost their Fan's Revenge Lumberjack match to champions LAX. At Hard Justice, Beer Money became the new TNA World Tag Team Champions, defeating LAX after hitting Homicide with a beer bottle. The feud continued through No Surrender with Beer Money Inc. once again getting the win. At Bound for Glory IV, Beer Money successfully defended their titles in a four-team Monster's Ball match.

Styles on whether he would choose to align himself with the Angle Alliance or Christian's Coalition. However, Impact! ran out of TV time before Styles could give a response - and after Impact! left the air, he ran away seeking out Tomko. On the January 3 edition of Impact!, Tomko quit both the Alliance and the Coalition, with Cage expressing no ill will towards the decision. He was defeated at Final Resolution by Angle after Styles interfered on Angle's behalf, helping him retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Christian got another championship match against Kurt Angle at Against All Odds with both men's rival Samoa Joe as a Special Guest Enforcer. On the last Impact! before the pay-per-view, Cage was attacked by Angle and Styles, only for Tomko to run to the ring and make the save, letting Cage know that he had his back. At Against All Odds, with the referee down and Samoa Joe distracted with Styles, Tomko betrayed Cage for good by delivering a torture rack neckbreaker on him and costing him the championship.
Following this, he joined Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe as the Unlikely Alliance, a group setup to take out the Angle Alliance (Angle, Styles, and Tomko). The Unlikely Alliance won a six-man tag between the two teams at Destination X. Later on, Christian would lead a team including Matt Morgan, Kevin Nash and former allies Sting and Rhino, who Christian reconciled with in the weeks leading to the event, against Tomko and his team in the Lethal Lockdown match at Lockdown, a match Christian's team won. At Sacrifice, Cage teamed up with Rhino once again in a Deuce's Wild Tournament for the TNA World Tag Team Championship, but lost to Team 3D in the semi-finals when Brother Devon hit Rhino with a kendo stick and covered him up for the win. Team 3D put Cage through a glass table on the June 26 edition of TNA Impact!, as retalition for Cage and Rhino aiding of Styles in his ongoing feud with Angle. At Hard Justice Cage, along with Rhino, defeated Team 3D in a New Jersey Street Fight, thus ending their feud. Cage would then defeat Styles to get a title shot, in match also containing the champion, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Booker T. Due to Hurricane Ike, Booker could not make the event, but Joe retained the Championship anyway after some assistance from the returning Jeff Jarrett. At Bound for Glory IV Cage faced Styles and Booker in a 3 Way Dance match, which Booker won. Christian again faced Booker T this time at Turning Point for the TNA Legends Title only ending up losing and having to join the Main Event Mafia. On the November 13, 2008 episode of Impact!, Cage was attacked by The Main Event Mafia and scripted into an injury as a result to render him inactive.

Truth be told, Robert Roode had the better year. Winning tag championships, leaving the year with them, and being in an insanely successful tag team wins as opposed to Christian's year in which nothing really happened.

Christian's yeah was somewhat meh.... kinda drifting a little with a few good moments in places. Roode on the other hand is looking more and more like a superstar waiting to happen everyday.
