I'm pretty sure most people here know that Glen Jacobs (AKA Kane) had been wrestling for many years before he was given the character of Kane. Throughout the years, and throughout the many different federations he's wrestled in, Glen Jacobs has ended up been given many different characters to try and get over and every single one had failed miserably. Now, it wasn't for lack of trying by Glen, as he is truly a great superstar, but every gimmick he had been given had been pretty terrible. Glen just had the worst of luck, he could never find the right "character". Two previous characters he played, in the WWF, were Isac Yankem, Jerry Lawler's evil dentist, and "Fake Diesel". Finally, Glen Jacobs was given the moniker of Kane, Undertaker's half-brother, who was burned in a fire while still a kid, and partially thanks to the popularity and fame of The Undertaker, the "Kane" Character got over and Glen Jacobs finally found his place. He has had many great years in the business now as Kane, and is still making money today wrestling full-time. He has held many championship belts and even the world heavyweight championship (Even if for only one day :tounge ) He has even had a movie deal as a part of the WWE Productons in "See No Evil".
But, what if the Kane character, like all of Glen's previous gimmicks, did not get over as well as it did? Would Glen still have a job today? Would he be making as good of a living as he is. Would the WWF, or perhaps WCW had even bothered more times to try and find the "right" character for Glen? Would he have eventually found another "good enough" character for him to portray? Or would they have stopped trying and Glen would perhaps be out of the business, working in real estate somewhere, forgotten in the history of pro wrestling?

I can't see the WWE keeping him around if Kane failed. Due to his size, Jacobs' is a perfect fit to be a wrestler in the WWE. However, after 3 failed gimmicks in two years, you really need to just cut him free. For WCW, I'm not sure. They were still signing anyone and everyone by 1998. He could of easily fit in with The Flock along with the other giants. That being said, WCW already had a lot of giants.
Most likely, Kane would of ended up back in the indy's doing whatever can get him a few bucks. Kane really just came into the business at the wrong time. With the WWE being so gimmick crazy, he couldn't just be Glen Jacobs a role where he'd just brutalize people (Think of Sid in the early 90's). I could see Jacobs going far as that with his size and his backstage behavior being very respectable.

I think WWE would be done with him at that point if the gimmick failed. Just too many tries and nothing worked.
He may get picked up by WCW, but nothing would happen. WCW had this thing with not being creative for most of its roster. He would have gone out every weak on Saturday Night as Glen Jacobs fighting random people.
He best chance would have been going to ECW. Heyman liked big guys from the E. I think he could have been used a bit there.

Your right, i think he would of gone to ECW, and would of been a major player there. His style would of been great down there, probally would of been one of their main guys over there.

Very interesting idea for a thread. Obviously I knew about the failed gimmicks which came before the birth of 'Kane', but I had never actually considered this question until I saw this thread. What would he have done? I agree with the general consensus that the Kane character was pretty much his last chance. If that hadn't got over, just like his other gimmicks, he would surely have been let go. ECW seems like the best option, but I can imagine him in WCW too. Good thing the Kane character did get over. I actually think Glen is underrated in his portrayal of Kane, particularly during the masked days when a lot of people said it was easy to do what he does. I thought he was great at portraying the character and showing emotion through his gestures and body language.
