Sticking with the recent Bret Hart theme, I thought it would be good to have a thread for people to talk about his best matches. Hart is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, or at the very least one of the greatest North American wrestlers, and while I wasn't a fan while he was around, I can see that this is the case from the matches I have watched. I imagine there are a lot of Hart fans here, so it would be good if people could discuss their favorite matches and give reasoning as to why they are so great, especially seeing as there might be amazing matches I have never seen.
I guess I will start with the obvious:
Bret Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin - Wrestlemania 13
This match is remembered for many reasons. The finish, what it did for Austin's career, the double turn, Austin's cool entrance ( To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. Anyway, it was a great match with a lot of things which were rarely seen back then, such as the brawling in the crowd and the blood. I love the way they combined the brawling and the personal aspect with technical wrestling. The match in general was very good, but the thing which stands out is the finish, with the iconic image of a bloody Austin screaming in pain while locked in Bret's sharpshooter. Fantastic booking to have Bret win but Austin look so strong in defeat, as he never submitted.
So there's the most obvious one out of the way, but feel free to comment on that match further if you want to.
More great Bret matches?

I still can't think of any wwe matches I like more than Bret vs Austin (outside maybe Rock vs Austin). To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Off the top of my head:
vs Owen Hart - Summerslam - Steel Cage Match
Despite recieving 5* from Meltzer, this match still gets overlooked so often by their great Wrestlemania match, which is shame as I prefer this by quite a bit. Just the perfect example of what a cage match should be. Loads of great sequences and near escapes with both men doing everthing humanly possible to win. You really got the feeling Owen hated Bret and wanted to beat him so badly, you had to sympathise with him even though he was a heel.
vs Mr Perfect - KOTR 1993
Just a fantastic wrestling match that esclates and esclate with both men making the match feel like such a big deal. Perfect's heel work in particular was greatness.
There was also a bunch of Hart Foundation matches I loved... off the top of my head, matches with The Bulldogs and Demolition were pretty awesome.
I may name some more later.

The other Austin match at Survivor Series 96 was also highly enjoyable. Its on Austin's DVD. I need to rewatch but I remember it being very good indeed.
Wrestlemania X is a great match but I think I expected more because I heard it rated 5* before I saw it.

I feel the same about the Wrestlemania match, but at the same I think it deserves all the praise because of the impact it made.
Havent seen the SS match with Austin yet though I really want to, everything I've heard about it sounds great.
I assumed you would have the Austin DVD being a big fan. It is definitely worth owning. I was very pleased to see that match on it, although I hadn't seen it before I bought the DVD.

The Hart Brothers vs The Steiner Brothers - Wrestlefest 1994
For the fans that has seen this, almost all agree that it's an incredible match. This is easily the Steiners best match in the WWE. For 20-25 minutes, the match is non-stop action and all four men goes above and beyond what's expected out of them. The finish leaves the viewer wanting a rematch. Sadly, it never happened.
The Hart Foundation vs Demolition - Summerslam 1990
This was a 2/3 falls match for the tag titles. Even though it loses points for having Crush instead of Ax, this was the match of the night at Summerslam and I'll even say a dark horse for a MOTYC. Demolition has never looked so good.
The Hart Foundation vs The Brain Busters - Summerslam 1989
With only a few more months before heading back to WCW (Although Tully would end up fucking that up) the Brain Busters were set for an non-title tag match for SS. As great as the BB's were in the WWE, this has to be their tag match. I'll even be willing to put this up against any of their WCW matches.
Team Demolition vs Team Powers of Pain - Survivor Series 1988
I wasn't sure whether to include this or not since it does feature 10 teams, but seeing how great it was, I figured why not. With such high profile teams as Demolition, The British Bulldogs, The Brain Busters, The Hart Foundation, The Rockers and the Rougeaus Brothers. This match goes over 40 minutes and features so much great action. In addition to all that, it features a surprise double turn and a surprise performance by an underdog team. To date, one of my favorite SS Elimination matches ever.
I'll do some mid-card matches later.

Is that Demolition match the one where the Road Warriors come out to make the save?
EDIT - Might as well ask... got any of those matches you could upload? To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

The Demolition match is the one with the Roadies.
I just posted the Steiners match. I have the other 3 matches, but on the coliseum home video. I might be willing to record some Bret from my video tapes on a disc so that I can rip it though.
